The Warmists at the UK Guardian, a paper that has long given up on journalism in favor of activism, seem a bit upset that some people are not converting to Warmism after Bad Weather
Floridians battered by Irma maintain climate change is no ‘big deal’
On Marco Island, widespread destruction in Irma’s wake is not enough to make believers out of some climate change skepticsThey sat through hours of pummelling by Hurricane Irma, with winds pounding them at up to 115mph and rain driving in a solid white sheet as bright as a snow blizzard. Then on Monday, Floridians woke up to survey the damage, begin the cleanup and get back to carrying on regardless.
By noon, the jet skiers were back on the water, buzzing around the west coast waterways under a blue sky where only hours before Irma had shaken the trees and put fear in people’s hearts.
In other words, back to life as usual.
For its lucky escape, the US has Cuba to thank, given that the northern coast of the island soaked up an important part of Irma’s energy before the storm reached Florida. Not that the debt of gratitude will be repaid by the current incumbent of the White House.
Apparently, the Cuba weather machines saved Florida. Al hail Castro and Authoritarianism!
The question now is whether local residents, Floridians and by extension America writ large will ponder the lessons of Irma, consider its portent of intensifying extreme weather in the wake of climate change, and decide to do something about it. The early message coming from Marcos Islanders on Monday was crystal clear.
No.
Chris Roche, 52, a real estate lawyer, was taking a long hard look at the damage to his home. Three trees were down in the yard, some tiles had come off the roof and there were signs of grey mud on the road – Irma’s calling card, dredged up from the seabed and deposited right outside his door. (snip)
As for climate change? “I don’t think climate change is such a big deal.â€
That was quite a striking comment just hours after a massive hurricane of terrifying force, some of which may have been the gift of global warming, tore through his home.
“I don’t think man is the tipping point. I think it’s more natural than that. We’re not experiencing historically close [to] high temperatures, not even close to it.â€
And, the Guardian apparently had a tough time finding an new Converts (Warmverts?), because absolutely zero are mentioned. In fact, many were wondering why the damage wasn’t as bad as expected, which was mentioned in the Cuba paragraph. There are headlines for stories like
- Did Climate Change Cause Hurricane Irma To Fizzle?
- Why Irma wasn’t far worse — and how close things came to catastrophe
- A Monster Surge Was Expected. Here’s Why It Never Came.
One has to wonder where the actual hurricane force winds were. Check the screenshot of the article, as the website for the article is down. 46mph. That’s not hurricane force winds (the measure is the windspeed over 1 minute, not gusts). And of the ground data. You can check ground data here (go to Florida, and check the stations). The pressure was very low, what one would expect with a major hurricane, but, where were the readings for hurricane force wind speeds? The vast majority of stations do not show them. Yes, there is damage, but, you could get the same damage from tropical storm force winds. I’d love an answer for this from a weather expert.
Will Florida pull itself up by its bootstraps or rely on taxpayers from CA, NY, NJ, MA and other blue states to repair the damages?
Why do red states become socialists when there’s trouble?
Will the Freedom Caucusers who in 2012 voted against help for NY and NJ with superstorm Sandy vote to bail out TX and FL?
I would suspect the freedom caucus will vote against pretty much any spending that does not include padding their own offshore bank accounts. These so called libertarians are more interested in getting vested so they can collect a huge pension and insurance and benefits for the rest of their lives then they are in helping anyone. But to be fair, the left is all about those bank accounts and vesting as well.
7 of the top 10 most populous states voted for Donald Trump. Why is that? I would submit that it is because he promised to help them. But we know that not only do the republicans not want to help the poor but neither do the Democrats who call the GOP racists the minute they start talking about inner cities and the carnage that is going on there.
Communism is alive and well in the USA. It is time for the American people to wake up and see it for what it is. The progressive left has no message at all anymore. Even Obama had no message other then the destruction of health care and moving everyone onto the rolls of welfare as in college debt, SSDI and Va pensions while the economy crept along at 1.6 GDP for his time in office.
The left has no message other then to call the right fascists. I suppose that if they can ultimately convince the voters that every republican is a facist before 2018 they might actually win back some seats. But my guess is that with a totally obstructionist agenda against a president who wants to help the very people the Democrats claim to be the champion of, well I would suggest that the Democrats are going to end up losing even more house, senate and state legislative seats. They simply have no message other then Trump is a Nazi.
Additionally this trajectory is amounting to 8 years for trump which means at least two more conservative judges on the Supreme court not to mention the continued application of conservative judges on the appeals as well as the federal courts.
Michael Moore and George Soros are serving the left well Mr. Jeffery and no matter how many names you call Trump it is actually to his benefit rather then his detriment.
