Trump’s Infrastructure Plan May Ignore Climate Change. It Could Be Costly.
President Trump is expected to unveil on Monday a plan that would fulfill one of his signature campaign promises: a $1.5 trillion, once-in-a-generation proposal to rebuild, restore and modernize the nation’s aging infrastructure.
“We will build gleaming new roads, bridges, highways, railways and waterways all across our land,†Mr. Trump said in his State of the Union address.
But while the proposal represents one of the administration’s main legislative ambitions, it could directly clash with one of its defining regulatory principles, which is to question the risk from global warming and roll back regulations addressing climate change.
The Trump infrastructure blueprint is almost certain to call for expensive new roads, bridges, airports and other projects in areas that are increasingly vulnerable to rising waters and other threats from a warming planet. Engineers and researchers say that construction plans should consider these design constraints at the outset. Their concern is that a plan led by a White House that has both discounted climate science and weakened climate change regulations could mean that costly projects may be vulnerable to damage or, in a worst-case scenario, quickly rendered obsolete by the changing environment.
In other words, some people are upset that the plan won’t line their pockets with sweet, sweet climate cash.
Seriously, this isn’t even news. It’s alarmist propaganda using prognostications of doom hiding a cultish viewpoint espoused by people who refuse to practice what they preach.
In other words, some people are concerned about spending $1,500,000,000,000 taxpayer monies on ill-conceived projects, that don’t consider the reality of climate change.
It would be like building not-to-code skyscrapers in earthquake prone areas. Stupid. But then, this is tRump.
Much of the taxpayer money is to line the pockets of tRump and GOP cronies with that sweet, sweet construction cash!
tRump has proposed a massive gasoline tax to fund his plan. Tax increases on the working classes AND massive spending. What do you think?

A big question is, “Are you prepared for the next recession?”
Economically, tRump and the GOP are doing everything they can (out of ignorance though, not intent) to trigger a business cycle recession… unwise tax cuts and massive fiscal stimulus during a period of robust growth. It has been nearly 10 years of steady growth since the last recession, The Great Recession. Inexplicably, enough Repubs went along with President Obama’s proposals to help the recovery, i.e., unemployment payment expansion, medicaid expansion and fiscal stimulus (the Fed handled monetary stimulus).
Since then, both Federal and state GOPhers have worked overtime to slash your safety net and will continue unabated until the next Republican recession. tRump’s new Fed raising interest rates to squelch the “overheated” expansion will trigger the next recession. You’ll lose your job, not have healthcare coverage, not be able to collect unemployment… but you’ll still get to watch tRump’s body-armored Gestapo round up Mexicans! Good luck.
Now THAT is a line for posterity! Sums up at least 95% of AGW “news”. You’ve created a new meme, or at least an acronym. APUPODHACVEBPWRTPWTP.
