On the heels of Schwarzenegger idiocy, the Washington Post’s unhinged Tom Toles takes his own stab
Should climate change be called murder? What do you call knowingly killing people?
This seems like as good a time as any to shift the climate argument from the debate club to criminal court, and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger intends to do just that.
“I don’t think there’s any difference: If you walk into a room and you know you’re going to kill someone, it’s first-degree murder; I think it’s the same thing with the oil companies.â€
Murder. Yes, it’s about time somebody started to use language that captures the actual effect of deliberately delaying the transition to carbon-free fuel. Will people really die as a result of climate change? They already have, from the amplification of the power of storms, to more intense drought, wildfires and flooding. The World Health Organization estimates that between 2030 and 2050, 250,000 people will die from climate change. EVERY YEAR. From malnutrition, malaria, diarrhea and heat stress.
So, um, when will Tom Toles demand that Washington Post stop using fossil fuels and killing trees for their operations?
We guess if abortion can be labeled “murder”, so can climate change.
Murder is wrongful killing of a human being. It comes from English common law, which is largely from the Vikings and like Germanic tribes that conquered Britain from Roman times to 1066. This concept shows up in most if not all ancient cultures as well – “Thou shalt not kill” is more accurately translated as “do not murder”. In the ancient world, murder was killing when the victim was surprised and/or did not have an opportunity to defend themselves, or was helpless.
An unborn child can be called a fetus, and it can be called a clump of cells, but barring violence and misfortune, he or she will grow, work, love and create life anew AS A HUMAN BEING. An unborn child has wronged noone, cannot defend themselves, thus, killing them is murder. The left arbitrarily decides that a human being is not really a human being at a certain age and can be murdered without care. The left in academia is already making the case that children under a certain age aren’t self aware and can/should be murdered if they are “inconvenient”, as they have made the case for murdering the elderly or infirm.
Take all federal and state funds from any and all abortion providers and/or ban abortion for any reason and I would happily get rid of my diesel vehicles, go vegan, use no AC and heat my home to no more than 50 degrees in winter- even though every thinking person knows that anthropomorphic climate change is a pile of Marxist moneygrab horseshit. The only caveat is – you go first.
That’s just not true. A quarter spontaneously abort (miscarriage). Hundreds of thousands of fertilized eggs get passed in menses.
If you really thought abortion was murder, you’d take your AR-15 and stop them, or go to jail trying. You may think abortion is cruel, inhumane, amoral and wrong, but you don’t really believe it’s murder.
Do you support policies that reduce abortion? Wider access to birth control? Cutting income inequality? Education funding? Strengthening families? Wider access to healthcare, even for the poor? Or are you only interested in banning all abortions?
