This is horrible. Horrific. Terrible. Abominable. Dreadful. Appalling. Gruesome. So says the Washington Post’s Excitable Catherine Rampell
Get ready. Republicans want to cut taxes again.
Just months ago, Republicans got away with a massive upward redistribution of wealth, raiding $1.5 trillion from the Treasury and sticking future generations with the bill.
Now, they’re going for more.
On Wednesday, President Trump touted his ginormous, sloppily drafted, deficit-financed tax cuts, written under cover of night without benefit of hearings or experts. The whole thing was so much fun, he said, that he hopes to do it all again.
This year.
“We’re actually going for a phase two which will help — in addition to middle class, it will help companies and it’s going to be something I think very special,†Trump said in Missouri. “Kevin Brady is working on it with me, Congress is working, the Senate’s working.â€
Brady (R-Tex.), the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, confirmed another tax-cut bill was in the works.
“We think even more can be done,†he gushed on Fox Business News.
Yeah, Catherine isn’t excited about citizens keeping more of the money they earned, because, Democrats believe that your money is actually Government’s money to spend.
The problem for Republicans, of course, is that at this point, tax cuts are the only thing they stand for. As conservative commentator Robert Novak once put it, “God put the Republicans on Earth to cut taxes. If they don’t cut taxes, they have no overriding rationale for existence.â€
Well, I suppose that standing for making sure citizens keep more of the money they work hard for isn’t quite as great as making sure unborn babies can have metal objects stuck in their heads then be suctioned out of a womb by a vacuum, the number one sacrament of Democrats. Because abortion on demand is what Democrats are on Earth for.
Oh, and arguing against citizens having more of their own money to spend.
Listen, we know the GOPher playbook well. Cut taxes on the wealthy, cut services to those lazy Negroes.
The only way for a Con Man to balance the budget is to cut spending on all non-military spending. People like tRump should never pay taxes.
“Cutting taxes on the rich will INCREASE federal revenues!”
Somebody ends up paying for streets, police, fire protection, schools, clean air, clean water, defense, The Wall, school guards, bridges, interest on the GOP debt, Steve Mnuchin’s travel, tRump’s golf outings, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid… and it ain’t the rich. It’s the working classes. Will the Con Men agree not to use our joint societal resources?
Uh, you do realize that the little people also make out like bandits here, if only because now there are more jobs.
And the people who say cutting taxes increases revenue are the IRS.
(I know facts just bounce off special people like Jeffery, but…)
The Federal government took more in for the last five months than in any five month period in history.
Of course, since all the left has is hate, they don’t want to acknowledge that the economy is doing better under Trump and more money is being collected.
They don’t even have the integrity to admit their social and economic programs are failures.
They hate who they are and they hate who you are.
All the have is hate.
The latest tax cuts for corporations resulted in 6& accruing to employees and 58% to corporate execs and shareholders.
The rich get richer… the GOP objective.
Yeah and all that “at some point you’ve made enough money” worked out soooo well.
And you do realize people are getting bonuses and stuff they haven’t seen since Dubya.
“Bonuses and stuff” amount to 6% of the tax cuts to corporations. Execs and shareholders got 58%. So far.
The tax cuts are increasing the national debt.
You healthcare costs are skyrocketing.
Thanks Dandy Don.
Funny that the nignorant angry little black fella didn’t complain much about the national debt or rising healthcare costs when Loose Shoes Mugabe was running the show.
What, I suppose you think the parasites should get more from the tax cuts. Of course it’s going to go to the producers, the parasites aren’t chipping in for shit.
Hose,
You consider American workers to be “parasites”? Charming. The execs and shareholders do not “produce” any more than American workers.
Jeff is lying again and if his statement were true, who cares.
“Redistribution of wealthâ€. Just shows how stupid liberals are with basic economics. Of course nothing is being “redistributedâ€, as the money was theirs to begin with. In fact, paying taxes, rather than a tax cut, would technically be the redistributing part, as the money goes from your pocket to the government.
It’s gratifying that you’re admitting that the tax cuts were for the wealthy (this is the lie that the right always uses) BUT that the wealthy deserve the cuts.
Even in this “booming” economy we’re spending more than we take in. What would you cut to balance the budget? Social Security? Medicare? Medicaid? Defense? Interest payments (default)? Or do you think the tax cuts will lead to INCREASED revenues (lol)?
But seriously, what would you cut? Or do you agree with Little Dick Cheney that Reagan “showed that deficits don’t matter”?
BTW, the difference between now and 2008 is that then we were in the middle of the worst recession since the Great Depression, we saw reduced revenues (stimulus tax cuts and down economy) and we spent more on Medicaid, unemployment and economic stimulus (tax cuts + direct spending and not nearly enough).
Nothing new, J still sees things on the page that aren’t there. Surprise
Jl,
Agree, old jeff is losing it. Maybe it is because Trump is bring us out of the hole created by Obama.
If these go through (and McConnell and Ryan are fools if they stop it), Trump will make the country better than it was under Ike.
Qanon
We’ll have to die all over again, because were we not supposed to die from the last tax cut?
Note too that the “bonuses” are a one time expense while the corporate tax cuts are year after year after year.
There no evidence yet that the corporate tax cuts are stimulating orders or production. Wages are creeping up at the same rate they were in the last few Obama years.
Corporations are using the cuts for stock buy backs, increasing the value of remaining stocks for their execs and shareholders. As predicted.
Would you be agreeable that on the next round of tax cuts to slash taxes on the poor and working classes? They (you) pay significant local and state taxes and federal payroll taxes. Are you willing to cut those taxes too? These are the people tRump promised to help. Or do you think the federal taxes on the wealthy and corporations should be further cut?
