It’s not just ‘climate change’ regulations that will be effected, because the EPA has been using secret science to manufacture mission creep and “regulations for the sake of regulations” regulations all over the place
(Daily Caller) Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt will soon end his agency’s use of “secret science†to craft regulations.
“We need to make sure their data and methodology are published as part of the record,†Pruitt said in an exclusive interview with The Daily Caller News Foundation. “Otherwise, it’s not transparent. It’s not objectively measured, and that’s important.â€
Pruitt will reverse long-standing EPA policy allowing regulators to rely on non-public scientific data in crafting rules. Such studies have been used to justify tens of billions of dollars worth of regulations.
EPA regulators would only be allowed to consider scientific studies that make their data available for public scrutiny under Pruitt’s new policy. Also, EPA-funded studies would need to make all their data public.
“When we do contract that science out, sometimes the findings are published; we make that part of our rule-making processes, but then we don’t publish the methodology and data that went into those findings because the third party who did the study won’t give it to us,†Pruitt added.
This will definitely make Warmists very upset, since the majority of all they fearmonger about is based on secret science.
Democrats and environmentalists have largely opposed attempts to require EPA rely on transparent scientific data. Said data would restrict the amount of studies EPA can use, but a major objection is making data public would reveal confidential patient data, opponents argue.
“A lot of the data that EPA uses to protect public health and ensure that we have clean air and clean water relies on data that cannot be publicly released,†Union of Concerned Scientists representative Yogin Kothari told E&E News.
“It really hamstrings the ability of the EPA to do anything, to fulfill its mission,†Kothari said.
Mule fritters. If you can’t justify government regulations by showing the full studies, data, methodology, etc, if you’re hiding this from the American People, then they should be disallowed. Especially since these studies are paid for with taxpayer money. We aren’t here for government: they work for us. Government should be transparent.
Maybe they can start with the one that claims CO2 is a “pollutant”.
Can the Teabag movement destroy America before the 2018 House reversal and the 2020 Dem takeover of the White House?
Can the GOPhers rig the system to allow them to maintain their minority domination of the majority?
We’ll just have to wait and see!
But, but, the data means what we SAY it means, nothing more nothing less.
the “science is settled†but trust us, we have to keep the data secret…
And while the Lamar Smith’s and you spend your days jerking off, the Earth will continue to warm from the CO2 we keep adding to the atmosphere.
Should all organizations be forced by the government to reveal their data, studies and experiments?
Nope. The government should only have unfettered access to all data, studies, and experiments paid for with taxpayers’ money.
(Notice the proper use of the term.)
Jeff,
No you are wrong and have nothing to support your lies.
“Should…all be forced by the government to reveal their data, studies and experimentsâ€? Only the ones asking for trillions from the taxpayers.
Or as JoNova said, Pruitt is asking scientists to act scientifically. Outrageous, I know

It’s not that the studies cannot be replicated, it’s that large multiyear studies are difficult and expensive to repeat. Many studies are hamstrung by confidentiality agreements with the subjects (tRump the Scientist should be familiar with these).
The data from many studies are not “owned” by the EPA and the corporations keep them confidential for patent and trade secret reasons. My company cannot release the “raw data” from our clinical studies because of patient confidentiality.
We all know this is a ploy by tRump, the TeaBag cockus, Pruitt and regulated industry. We will survive until Jan 2021.
Another example of the special pleading fallacy with a little ad hominem throw in from a nignorant angry lying little black fella.
