Astroturfed Youngsters March For Doing Something On Guns, Really Don’t Say What

Obviously, there were marches and stuff across the nation and even in other countries, all to take some sort of action, action that they really don’t want to discuss. They just want to screech that Congress should do something, as we see across all sorts of articles, which are light on policy proposals and long on feelings

‘Never again!’ Students demand action against gun violence in nation’s capital

Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators gathered in the nation’s capital and cities across the country Saturday to demand action against gun violence, vividly displaying the strength of the political movement led by survivors of a school massacre in Parkland, Fla.

Organized by students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where a gunman killed 17 last month, the March for Our Lives showcased impassioned teens calling on Congress to enact stricter gun-control laws to end the nation’s two-decade stretch of campus shootings.

Hundreds of “sibling protests” took place across the world, from New York City — where demonstrators spread across 20 blocks — to Jonesboro, Ark., a small city marking the 20th anniversary of a middle-school shooting that left four students and a teacher dead. Gun-rights advocates mounted counterprotests in Salt Lake City, Boise and Valparaiso, Ind., where one sign read “All Amendments Matter.”

Although the D.C. march was funded by Oprah Winfrey, George and Amal Clooney, and other celebrities, Stoneman Douglas High students have been its faces. Their unequivocal message to legislators: Ignoring the toll of school shootings and everyday gun violence will no longer be tolerated.

“To the leaders, skeptics and cynics who told us to sit down, stay silent and wait your turn: Welcome to the revolution,” Cameron Kasky, a Stoneman Douglas student, said to a crowd that packed at least 10 blocks of Pennsylvania Avenue. “Either represent the people or get out. Stand for us or beware. The voters are coming.”

And if you read this article, or ones at other news outlets, you won’t find actual policy proposals. How is Congress supposed to read your minds? What if they Take Action, but it’s not the action you want? It is cute how some are using their 1st Amendment rights (as pushed by adult gun grabber groups) to take away the 2nd Amendment Rights of citizens, the latter which helps protect the former. Oh, and while

Because many of the demonstrators were children, authorities in the nation’s capital said they took extra security precautions. By day’s end, police had reported no violent altercations or other problems, despite a small contingent of counterprotesters decrying efforts to toughen gun laws.

That’s right, their anti-2nd Amendment rally was protected by all sort of armed security.

Emma González, 18, took the stage in a drab olive coat and torn jeans, speaking of the “long, tearful, chaotic hours in scorching afternoon sun” as students waited outside Stoneman Douglas High on the day of the shooting.

With a flinty stare, tears streaming down her face, González stood silent on the rally’s main stage for nearly four minutes — evoking the time it took Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz to carry out his attack. The crowd began chanting, “Never again.”

Nothing says “listen to me” like dressing like a hobo. Her silence was a great reminder of the failure of the deputy at the school. And the failure of the Sheriff’s department, local police, FBI, school system, and others pre-shooting.

This story, like most, avoids mentioning policy proposals, because those speaking didn’t really offer more than platitudes of “never again” and stuff. It seems they all want to give up their ability to defend themselves, making themselves what is referred to as “victims.”

(Reason) “Guns are for the police and the government,” a 13-year-old girl confidently assured me.

Awesome. We should totally listen to the wise wisdom of a worldly 13 year old, one who wants to become a Victim.

Here’s a dare: try and repeal the 2nd Amendment. Go for it. Let’s see how you fare.

But, while the vast majority of speakers avoided exposing their true intentions (gun grabbing), some in the audience didn’t. We get gems like

if you really want to protect children, everyone who voted for obomo is never allowed to vote again.

  2. Jeffery says:

Your panic is palpable. And it should be.

  3. Jeffery says:

GOPhers need to find a way to suppress votes and fix elections. It’s the only way they can continue to rule an increasingly unruly majority.

That’s not exactly true. The right is becoming increasingly comfortable using the their current government power to control the masses. It works for tRump heroes such as Putin, Jong and Xi.

  4. Jeffery says:

Astroturfed, screech, cute, snowflake… how demeaning. Then you lie about what they demanded.

Did you not listen to any of the speeches? Just this morning I saw a video of one teenager “screech”ing to a crowd of “astroturfed” “snowflakes”.

We demand a ban on selling assault weapons.
We demand a ban on high-capacity magazines.
    We demand universal background checks.

The GOP and NRA are in ad hoc high-level discussions even today. They are panicked, even if you aren’t.

And this is why you are lying overtime today.

    • OK, let’s say for the sake of argument we go with those 3 things. Will this solve the problem?

Let’s do the “assault weapons” ban with a 5 year sunset. When it fails, will you move on? What if criminals switch to shotguns or non-scary rifles? Will you then call for banning all them, too? How about handguns?

What will you do when people make their own magazines?

I have no problem with requiring BG checks on all purchases, including transfers from family member to family member. And those with concealed carry permits should have to get checks, too. The problem here is that what the gun grabbing extremists really want is for the government to know exactly what everyone purchased and keep a database of it, treating those engaged in their constitutional right as criminals, which is also in violation of the 4th.

NO, the NRA and GOP aren’t panicked. Nice try, though.

Yes! Finally you get it. Trained professionals with guns, e.g., our police, help keep us safe from the lunatic ammosexuals with AR-15s who wish us harm!

Statistically, schools are the safest places for America’s children to be at any given time.

  6. drowningpuppies says:

Out of the more than 55 million K-12 students across the nation’s public and private schools, an average of 10 students are killed every year by gunfire at school. That is 10 students too many, but to put this number in perspective, more than 800 students die every year during regular travel to and from school.

Even rarer on K-12 campuses are the types of high-profile, multiple-casualty shooting rampages as exemplified by Columbine, Sandy Hook, and Parkland.

  7. Jl says:

“You finally get it. Trained professionals with guns…help keep us safe…”. And you obviously don’t. Forget already what happened in Florida a short while ago as “trained professionals” both in the police and FBI sat on their asses and did nothing? You just did a marvelous job of making our point.

      It’s more than that JL.

You may remember when the Brown shooting occurred, Jeffery came on this site and lambasted every cop for being a racist. Now he wants to claim those same cops are somehow guardian angels.

Jeffery and people of his ilk hate freedom so much that they are willing to cast aside whatever morals and ethics they have in order to feed the hate that darken their souls.
