What are Democrats running on in 2018?

Don’t forget about going after the firearms of law abiding citizens
(Breitbart) Democrats in the House and Senate are pushing firearm licensing and registration requirements.
The push is contained in legislation titled, “Blair Holt Firearm Owner Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2018.†It is being sponsored by Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL) and Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL).
The text of the legislation says, “To provide for the implementation of a system of licensing for purchasers of certain firearms and for a record of sale system for those firearms, and for other purposes.†The phrase “certain firearmsâ€Â refers to “a handgun; or a semiautomatic rifle that is capable of accepting a detachable ammunition feeding device.â€
The legislation defines and “ammunition feeding device†as a device “capable of being detached from a semiautomatic rifle; and has a capacity of, or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than 10 rounds of ammunition.â€
Law abiding citizens would have to register their firearms with The Government and then get a firearm license from the state government. We already see how hard it is to get a firearm in many states, at least for the law abiding attempting to protect themselves from the criminals. Imagine how much harder the gun grabbers will make the licensing with a national law.
Exemptions to the requirements include “a Federal employee who is required to carry a qualifying firearm in the capacity of that individual as a Federal employee while engaged in the performance of official duties.†In other words, the Capitol Police and other security personnel who protect Congress would not have to submit to the requirement placed upon commoners.
Funny how it’s always The Government, including those who protect government officials, who are excluded from all the Democrat gun grabbers schemes.
No.
That’s my answer to any licensing or registration scheme.
Am I required to get a license to publicly speak? Do I need a license to comment on this blog? Do I need a license to vote? The Bill of Rights specifically limits the power of the government over my inalienable natural rights, one of which is the right to keep and bear arms. The Constitution does not grant me that right in the sense that the government controls it and I need the government’s permission (a
license) to exercise it, the Constitution affirms this as a pre-existing natural right.
Yes, I am a hard-liner on RKBA.
You forgot– Weaponize the IRS to go after the Tax Exempt status of Organizations Democrats don’t like.
The 2nd Amendment does not guarantee your right to any firearm you desire.
The Supreme Court would rule on any law that restricts firearms, but they may not rule in a way you prefer.
Even conservative justice Antonin Scalia said the 2nd Amendment rights are not absolute, and would need to be adjudicated on a case-by-case basis.
Why didn’t they just write: “The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”? Why did they add that gobbledygook?
Probably because they were more intelligent than the average nignorant angry little black fella {aka house negro).
Jeff,
We have asked you to explain how infringing on the rights of every man by restricting or taking guns, either out right or by the typical laws by liberals that do the same thing but by other means, will reduce or eliminate violence. Why not go back to treating the mentally ill that was stopped by liberals.
dave,
We’ve asked you to explain how liberals stopped the treatment of the mentally ill.
You ask how restricting the capacity of magazines will reduce the numbers killed in mass shootings. Well, duh. The AR-15 style assault weapons are designed to kill batches of humans. For that reason, the AR-15 type assault weapon is the tool of choice for most mass shooters.
The gun nutz find any restriction on their desire for more firepower to be unconstitutional.
Oddly enough, a lot of the time so do the courts.
