Look, I’m not one who supports the Silent Sam statue. For instance

Of course, it doesn’t mean that this is what the statue is about. And UNC’s Chancellor is not happy
Unlawful and dangerous: UNC chancellor on ‘Silent Sam’ toppling
Protesters on Monday night toppled the controversial “Silent Sam” statue on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
More than 200 protesters first gathered at the Peace and Justice Plaza at about 7 p.m., before marching to the base of the statue, calling for its removal. By 9:30 p.m., the statue was on the ground and the crowd erupted in cheers.
They tore it down and heavily damaged it.

Here’s the thing: no one was arrested. The police stood aside as property was damaged and destroyed. You may not agree with the statue, but, we cannot simply arbitrarily destroy property we do not like in this manner. Are we a nation of law or a nation of whim? One person was arrested on other charges, but, no stopped the destruction of public property. Will the Chancellor do anything to those who are identified? Doubtful.
Some people don’t like MLK. Does that mean that all reference to MLK should be removed.
david7134,
Did the Reverend Martin Luther King commit acts violating human decency?
Well, he did pork other men’s wives.
Neither did the Confederate Army.
But the Democrat party certainly has. How’s ’bout we get rid of all the Barack Ozippy stuff?
david7134,
Was MLK a traitor who participated in a rebellion against the United States?
Funny thing. All the Radical Republicans wanted all Confederate government officials and senior Confederate officers executed.
Senior Union officers from Grant on down said it would be over their dead bodies. So nothing happened.
So the Rebs weren’t traitors, after all.
