Despite the threat climate change poses to human health, very few medical schools have made it a part of their coursework.
The International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations recently conducted a survey of medical schools in 118 countries. Of the medical schools reviewed, the IFMSA found 15.9% have made climate change a part of their curricula.
Dr. Renee Salas, an emergency room doctor and climate change researcher at the Harvard Global Health Institute, said she was not surprised by the results. Through her work at Harvard, she has tried to incorporate climate change into the teachings of U.S. medical schools.
Salas said the survey shows there is an opportunity to train the next generation of physicians so they have the skills necessary to practice in a future where global warming affects every aspect of their jobs.
“Climate change is truly that threat multiplier,” she said. “It impacts, in my opinion, every facet of how we practice medicine.”
Even if the Modern Warm Period was mostly/solely caused by the actions of Mankind (it’s not), doctors already learn about things like heat stroke and diseases and such: there’s not need for them to be indoctrinated into learning about weather and cult doctrine.
Salas echoed that idea, saying that schools can add climate change to lessons of asthma and other conditions.
“My approach is all they need to do is add a climate lens to what they’re already teaching,” she said.
This solution has its own hurdle, as there are few climate experts currently in the medical field. That’s why Salas says medical schools need to focus on collaboration and developing electronic curriculum that could be used to more easily spread growing knowledge from existing experts.

gitarcarver demonstrated that atmospheric greenhouse gases slow the rate at which infrared radiation (heat) leaves the Earth confirming the mechanism by which atmospheric CO2 causes warming, and atmospheric CO2 has increased over the past century or so (from 260 ppm to over 400 ppm –> and still increasing!), and the increased CO2 comes from humankind burning fossil fuels, so what more evidence do you need?

Those things are “unreasonable”. Having doubts about the quantity of human contributions to global warming is scientific skepticism, not denial.

Now, we are most likely “contributing” to it but we certainly don’t cause it. Warming and cooling are part of what the universe and the earth do naturally with or without the contributions of humans. Trying to fuk with that is a crime against nature and you shouldn’t fuk with mother nature. We are in a warming period but instead of thanking God for all the advantages of warmth you seem to want to use it as an excuse to eliminate progress, technology, freedom and people. Dinosaurs walked, flew and swam on Earth for over 150 million years. It’s thought that a 10 km dia asteroid hit Earth (Yucatan?) at over 40,000 miles/hr kicking up some 50,000 cubic miles of dirt and dust into the atmosphere, blocking sunlight for years, killing plants, herbivorous and carnivorous dinos. It was climate change that killed them!

We humans have to balance the effects of global warming in the next century against the possible ice age in 50,000 years. As old men likely to be dead and forgotten within the next 20 years, we have much less at stake than do 16 year olds, although we could sympathize today with what our great-grandchildren will likely face.

My recollection is that at the peak of the 1998 El Nino “skeptics” started counting until they saw the next peak to exceed 1998. Is that what you remember? “Skeptics” also chose only to look at satellite data.

I could go back and look up all the phony data put out by you climate alarmists but I’ll leave that up to you if you are interested. The data was faked to create a phony “crisis” or “emergency” but that does not mean real scientists haven’t shown some real temperature increases (or decreases which they too have shown). As usual Dildo misses the point. It’s about humans. Our civilizations are only 10 thousand years old, with only a few centuries building massive cites on coasts, in deserts and in flood plains. It’s about us now, not before humans walked the Earth.
So only some data are faked? How does a newborn non-denier weed out the faked from the genuine? The science does not keep changing, although more discoveries are made – that’s how science works.
