More voters than ever say the climate crisis is their top priority
A growing share of voters list climate and the environment as their top priority, according to a new poll from the Environmental Voter Project.
Of the registered voters surveyed, 14 percent named “addressing climate change and protecting the environment†their No. 1 priority over all other issues, compared with 2 to 6 percent before the 2016 presidential election.
Climate and environment voters are also the most motivated to vote in 2020, saying they are willing to wait in line an average of an hour and 13 minutes at the polls.
“There are almost 30 million climate voters out there who are already registered to vote. That’s a huge constituency,†said Nathaniel Stinnett, the founder of the project, which aims to identify inactive environmentalists and turn them into consistent activists and voters.
“That’s like four times the number of NRA members. It’s enormous, and a lot of that growth has happened over the last two to three years.â€

The poll compared survey responses to public voter file records and found that infrequent voters are more likely than frequent ones to assign a higher importance to climate and the environment.
That suggests environment advocates could benefit from getting more climate-minded voters to the polls with some easy fixes, such as awareness campaigns for early and absentee voting. A quarter of infrequent voters were not aware they could vote early, and 29 percent weren’t aware they could vote absentee. Voting by mail could also increase environment voter turnout.
Of course, when you explain to these infrequent voters that they’d be voting to raise their cost of living, cost of energy, take more money out of their pockets, and limit their freedom, liberty, and choice, that could change the dynamics. Because the Warmists pushing this stuff keep forgetting that ‘climate change’ is popular in theory, not in practice. We’ve been through this more than once. Pierre Gosselin is a denier and he scans for bits of information to use as propaganda. The papers rarely support his overinterpretations. It’s suspicious that he never finds papers that don’t support his prejudices. It’s not my responsibility to read every paper a non-scientist denier cites, but a sampling always adds context to his claims.
Our approach is based on the distribution of bacterial branched glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraethers (brGDGTs) and the abundance of the archaeal isoprenoidal (iso)GDGT crenarchaeol. Using the recently developed peat-specific MAATpeat temperature calibration we find that NE China experienced a relatively warm early Holocene (∼5–7 °C warmer than today), followed by a cooling trend towards modern-day values during the mid- and late Holocene.
You should have noticed that the first paper (did you read it?), referenced a small region in China, and the data will be taken into consideration with all the worldwide data available from that time period.
The authors used computer modeling and assumed an estimated earlier Holocene temperature 2.5-3C higher (for a tiny region on the coast of Iceland) to model the fate of a small ice cap in Iceland. Again, this data will be part of the overall modeling of the average surface temperature of the Holocene, if it’s at all relevant.

Used vanillic acid assay of sediments to confirm what was already known about North Atlantic sea surface temperature. Again the data would be incorporated into reconstructions of the global surface temperature. There analysis did not extend back to the early Holocene.
This is the kind of “scholarship” one gets from someone like the Trickster, who implies from a single study in NE China that the early Holocene was 5-7C warmer than now.
But don’t misunderstand, this is not to criticize the actual scientific papers, but only to criticize The Trickster for his unjustified conclusions.
Do you trust all the methods they use to generate their proxy data, or do you take their word for it as long as it supports your conclusion? Another commenter here doesn’t trust any data not taken with a thermometer, declaring that people like you and The Trickster have no data to tell if it has ever warmed or cooled before about 1800 or so.
It is possible, if not likely, that regions of the Earth warm or cool independently, but each study adds a datapoint contributing to the average and deviation from the average (error bars).
