Happy Sunday! It’s still better to be in the United States than anywhere else. The sun is shining, the geese are honking (good grief, they’re loud), and the squirrels are all over. This pinup is by Gil Elvgren, with a wee bit of help.

Here’s an article on homemade medical masks. Can be better than nothing.
https://www.inquirer.com/health/coronavirus/homemade-masks-coronavirus-do-they-work-how-to-make-them-20200324.html
The attacks on the FDA regs are unwarranted. Given the chance, unthinking far-rightists and libertarians would dismantle the FDA.
They often do more harm than good, but making masks that aren’t plastic and cover the full face are a waste of time.
Just like all of Jeffery’s revelations.
BTW Forbes noticed Demos are more likely to get, should we call it the Blu State Fl?
s/b Flu
Interesting stupidity there, Sibley.
Is this the Forbes article you pseudo-reference? They explain why 14% of Dems say they either have, had or know someone with SARS-Cov-2 while only 10% of GOPhers make the same claim. You can have someone read the article to you.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/traversmark/2020/03/28/more-democrats-are-infected-with-coronavirus-than-republicans-according-to-new-survey-research/#178caf786501
From what stupid right-wing source did you get the figure?
I just loved the graphic.
Shows the real stupidity. Or can’t you see the correlation?
And, by your reaction, it just proves it’s true.
But you refuse to say from where you filched it? Why?
They misspelled ‘SARS-CoV-2’ and ‘Democratic’.
It wasn’t in the Forbes article.
And sorry Charlie you don’t establish a correlation with pictures.
How does anyone’s reaction prove your argument?
The attacks on the FDA regs are unwarranted.
Because the regs that prevented other companies and citizens from making masks are a good thing in a time of crisis.
Reagan was right:
“The most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”
It is amazing that the left is attacking those who want to help people in need. Such is the depth of their hatred.
Then again, all the left has is hate.
Why do YOU think the FDA has regulations?
Is it possible the regulations are to protect the American public and to prevent ‘snake-oil’ salespersons from bilking citizens by selling false hope and dangerous and/or ineffective drugs and devices?
Kudos to folks giving their time, resources and effort for making the masks. But what good is a mask that doesn’t work, or that is contaminated or that gives a false sense of security? In the greatest, most technologically advanced, richest nation in history, why can’t we manufacture enough effective masks to support the dedicated, at-risk, first responders in our hospitals and clinics? Instead of hurling scurrilous broadsides at the FDA perhaps critics could ask relevant questions.
All gitarcarver is hatred (especially for the Federal gov’t) and ignorance.
Do YOU receive any support from the Federal gov’t?
Is it possible the regulations are to protect the American public and to prevent ‘snake-oil’ salespersons from bilking citizens by selling false hope and dangerous and/or ineffective drugs and devices?
Is it possible that the regulations are there to protect other companies from innovation and to price items out of the market?
The fact of the matter is that there is a balance and when hospitals were screaming for masks, the FDA need not have put their foot down and said “no.”
If, as you assert, the regulations are there to protect the American public, then those regulations need to be examined in the light of current situations and the harm being caused by the regulations themselves.
I perfectly understand how you are one of the people and the companies that want regulations in the market so you don’t have to compete. (Have you vacated your patents yet as you believe you should?)
In the greatest, most technologically advanced, richest nation in history, why can’t we manufacture enough effective masks to support the dedicated, at-risk, first responders in our hospitals and clinics?
We do manufacture masks. The problem is that when the need rose exponentially, the current supply chain failed. Instead of letting other companies step in, the FDA wouldn’t let them. The relevant question is “in times of emergencies, do regulations do harm or good?”
The answer in the case of masks and ventilators, the answer is clearly “harm.”
The bottom line is that when regulations that are designed to protect do actual harm, they need to be suspended or wiped off the books. In this case, the lack of speed from the FDA is alarming, but we suppose that the left hates Americans so much they are willing to let people die in order to support regulations that harm others.
After all, all the left has is hate.
