London:Â No child has been found to have passed coronavirus to an adult, a review of the evidence in partnership with the Royal College of Paediatrics has found.
Major studies into the impact of COVID-19 on young children suggest they “do not play a significant role” in spreading the virus and are less likely to become infected than adults.
While experts insist that more evidence is needed, they note there has not been a single case of a child under 10 transmitting the virus, even in contact tracing carried out by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Public health officials in Switzerland have announced that under-10s can hug their grandparents again because they pose them no risk.
Now a review in partnership with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) has found the evidence “consistently demonstrates reduced infection and infectivity of children in the transmission chain”. (snip)

Wrong assumption, Children do pass on Covid 19, I have a TA aunt and a caretaker uncle who both worked at the same school and got Covid from Spanish holiday returnee children. They might not pass on as much as an asymptomatic adult spreader – or for as long, but have several hundred in an assembly hall and that inoculum goes straight up. After being infected what you get depends on your age – both were nearly at retirement, and your health – my uncle has allergies etc.
They live in the UK in Cheshire, we are not releasing the careers of those who are most/worst affected – but we do have at least one primary schoolteacher who went public on the BBC. We wont have the figures till the ONS does the data collation releasing the non NHS ones next year. So yes, junior individually is unlikely to pass on the bug statistically, but being in the presence of 300 – 600 schoolchildren means at least one of them will pass it on, and since there is no long term immunity, keep passing it on much like nits but with fatal consequences for parents and staff .
