LA Mayor Orders Electricity Cut To “Party House”

Yay, Big Government

L.A. cuts utilities to ‘party house’ in Hollywood Hills

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti ordered utilities cut off Wednesday at a home where “several” parties have been held in violation of social distancing rules during the coronavirus pandemic, his office said.

Garcetti had vowed on Aug. 5 to disconnect utilities at homes where local laws prohibiting large gatherings are repeatedly violated.

“With more than 2,000 Angelenos — and over 170,000 Americans — lost to COVID-19, we need every resident to undertake critical safeguards to stop the spread of this virus,” he said in a statement. “That includes not hosting or attending parties that put themselves, their neighbors, and many others at risk.”

So, hey, Liberals, do you enjoy Government having the power to cut your power off for Wrongthink? You talk of freedom. This should scare you all.

Think of it this way: what if Trump, or a Republican governor or mayor, decided to do this to someone else: would you be fine with it? Call it Fascism? Call them dictators? Or defend it? What if they did it to you? You cool with that? These are the people you vote for, willing to exercise Power via energy that you pay for. Is it such a great idea that Government has this much control over your energy?

While the picture maybe absurd, the idea isn’t. And it is not a parody: it originated via Maine Public Radio, as linked in the article.

where does he get the authority to do this. if it’s not in the state constitution he should be sued.

Would it be better to arrest the partiers? Does the state have any legitimate interest in reducing dangerous environments? How about drug dens? Brothels?

The US will pass 175,000 dead today. That’s like 60 9/11’s, after which we invaded the wrong country, Iraq.

For the restaurant workers, wear a mask.

Bet Rimjob can’t even count all the logical fallacies he just posted.

Dangerous environment? Does that mean where Conservatives gather? Where a Conservative website is hosted? Where a Conservative writer lives?

Man, you can’t wait for that knock on the door stuff to start, can you?

Which was the right country, Israel? And, sorry, the phony count is only 173K. You’ll have to wait for 60 911s, or 54,660. I know, mass death really gets you hard.

Why? It’s all nonsense. you need something where the air can’t pass through.

Your understanding of virology is at the level of your understanding of global warming.

        Zero.

      Man/ child,
You have really been shooting your mouth off and you have no knowledge of what you are talking about, as usual. COVID is certainly deadly for a select group of people. But reverse isolation and the way this disease has been handled by the Dems is beyond stupid. In fact murder charges should be brought against many Dem leaders. But stopping people from gathering when they are a low risk for death and are aware of the risk is idiotic and is a violation of rights.

You need to remember you are not very intelligent and have zero knowledge of any subject.

Trumps original call on this illness was spot on and it should be treated as a disease of less potency than the flu.

david duke is a quack but an even worse lawyer.

        Charge the Dems with murder?

david also sucks at public health and epidemiology.

Limiting the size of gatherings reduces the spread of the virus, as does wearing masks. Although the mortality is lower for lower ages, the transmission rate is still high which means younger can infect older people.

You just challenged a man’s professional standing. For someone who enjoys inviting people to come to St Lou and face him with it, you may want to shut your mouth before he contacts his lawyer.

          Charge the Dems with murder?

Sending people with Peking Pulmonary Pox into nursing homes has been labeled as mass murder in a great many places on the ‘Net. Second degree, voluntary manslaughter are very real possible charges.

david also sucks at public health and epidemiology.

You, of course, are an expert, thanks to your doctorate from Acme Correspondence Schools. How much of your virology have we proven a crock?

What’s the size of a virus wrt other bacteria? Why do viruses die out in the summer? Why are almost all masks ineffective in retarding the spread?

And your knowledge of law mustn’t be very good or you’d have stayed out of trouble.

Limiting the size of gatherings reduces the spread of the virus, as does wearing masks. Although the mortality is lower for lower ages, the transmission rate is still high which means younger can infect older people.

Then where are your complaints about letting all those rioters run loose en masse and without masks?

Size of gatherings has nothing to do with it. All you need is more than one, and the masks are a joke.

BTW what is the transmission rate? Care to give us a source, or is this more fake data pulled out of your ass?

LOL, snowflake. What’s he going to do, sue me for calling him a quack? Anyway, tRump has all of America’s lawyers tied up defending him and trying to keep his tax returns hidden away.

      Typical Leftist.

    • gitarcarver says:

Would it be better to arrest the partiers?

      Yes.

While some question whether mandates carry the same weight as laws, the fact of the matter that there are two possible scenarios in regards to the power hookup.

      1) The city is supplying the power. It is well established law that a City cannot cut services to a residence or business if the business has no outstanding balance for those services. In that the Mayor seems to think he can act unilaterally without any sort of hearing or due process shows that the Mayor is not interested in following the laws of the land.

      2) The power is being supplied by an outside company. If that is the case, the City cannot interfere with the contract between the power company and the customer. The City has no third party standing in that contract. Once again, the lack of a hearing and the lack of any due process is contrary to the law as well.

We all understand that leftists hate the law and don’t think it applies to them.

After all, all the left has is hate.
