Well, this also depends on when the Powers That Be let go of COVID as a way to control citizens
What the “green” economy looks like after the coronavirus pandemic
Electric cars covered with solar panels. Solar-powered laptop and smartphone chargers. An AI-driven system to cut the energy use of a home or a factory. This year’s annual Consumer Electronics Show puts environmental sustainability and self-reliance front and center.
The increase in eco-friendly gadgets at the largest consumer electronics event in the U.S. continues an improbable trend begun during the coronavirus pandemic. Despite a broad economic decline, many green industries — from rooftop solar to bicycling — have thrived. Once the pandemic is curbed, environmentalists say keeping these green habits going will be key if humans are to stave off another existential crisis: climate change.
From the mundane to the fanciful, these CES technologies could help humans leave a lighter footprint.
And this will soon be mandated, and guess who gets to pay?
The shift to work-from-home could have long-term environmental benefits — the equivalent of taking 14 million cars off U.S. roads every year, according to one estimate. But there’s also a downside for those white-collar workers, mainly in the form of their work-from-home power bill.
You can’t win for losing in Warmist World
To help, Schneider is rolling out its Wiser Energy Center, a home power management system that can analyze which appliances are using the most power and when, and can be programmed to turn certain circuits off at certain times of day. For $299, plus added costs to add smart switches or integrate solar or battery power, Schneider is pitching the system as a cheap alternative to upgrading your home appliances.
Government has been pushing for similar stuff where they can just shut your appliances off whenever they feel like it.
Electric vehicles are getting plenty of play at CES, with exhibitors including Lightyear One, an electric car covered with solar panels that is being developed in the Netherlands; and Geotab Energy, a fleet-management system that promises to manage charging for large numbers of electric vehicles.
Which most people won’t be able to afford.
Of course, simply replacing our electronic gadgets with solar-powered versions won’t stave off the climate crisis. Even with the record drop in greenhouse gas emissions last year, 2020 tied for the hottest year on record. The year began with record-setting wildfires in Australia and ended with rolling blackouts in California just to keep the state’s power grid from being overloaded.
Buying solar-powered stuff without reconsidering one’s lifestyle is a “gimmick,” according to Mike Berners-Lee, an authority on carbon footprints and director of Small World Consulting, which helps companies reduce their climate impact.
The good news, he said, is that the technology to dramatically decarbonize the global economy doesn’t need to be invented — it already exists. Equally important is for consumers to understand that less-polluting ways of living can make a major difference, coupled with finding the will to maintain some of those lifestyle changes, such as flying and driving less, after the pandemic ends.
Of course, most Warmists refuse to do more than anything token. I’m looking forward to the shocked expressions on their faces when they are forced to practice what they preach.
The cheapest Tesla costs about the same price as the average car cost in the USA $37000
John,
You should hurry home after getting your new Tesla as they tend to fall apart.
Besides, a good gas engine is better and less influence on the environment.
Only for the base model that only has about a 260 mile range. If I need to take a long trip I would have to plan it so I could visit their ‘supercharger’ stations to charge it which, to get a full charge, would take about an hour. At home it could take up to 4 days to get a full charge on a 120V outlet. Would have to install a 240V outlet to get a faster charge which would still take about 10 hours.
For that same $37k I can get a well equipped Chevy Malibu that has a range of over 400 miles. No special planning of my trip to find special ‘filling stations’. I can add another 400+ mile range in about 10 minutes. I don’t have to have anything special installed in my home to fuel my car.
Ever driven one ? I drove a Mid X the one with the gulleing doors from Seattle to Montauk NY
I was very impressed
There was one place I think eastern Washington where the nav system said to rev haha tge after only 80 miles because of a lack of free supercharge stations
Other than that I did nit feel inconvenienced stopping every 4-5 hours for 1 hour pit stop
As for buying one not really in the market for a new car
My 16yo Chevy venture suits new fine
But check out the Tesla lease page for 530 per month you can get an 8000 mile mod 3 with extended range and 0-60mph in 3sec
For a guy who drives a 16yo pollution spewing Chevy you sure do act as a pitchman for Tesla here quite often. If I had a 16yo filth spewing junker I’d be in the market for a new car. Why aren’t you? Oh, that’s right, good for me but not for thee.
I happen to be looking at new cars and Tesla isn’t even on my radar let alone a serious consideration.
But that’s the difference between fascists and conservatives. If you think something is a good idea you want laws to force everybody to do it. If we think something’s a good idea we just do it and don’t give a rats ass what anyone else does.
Musk responded to Big Tech’s recent crackdown on President Trump and his supporters in a tweet that read, “A lot of people are going to be super unhappy with West Coast high tech as the de facto arbiter of free speech.â€
Musk is looking into starting an alternative to big tech. There are plenty of rich billionaires on the right to make this happen.
Big Tech censorship will bite them in the ass and Biden Appointed Merrick Garland as the DOJ AG.
He is a centrist. IN fact most of Biden’s choices are pissing the hell out of the far left. He is ignoring the far left in his appointments, including putting an ex fossil fuels exec in charge of the DOE.
Insiders are begging to reigned in. Dorsey, Zuckerberg have lost control of their companies and are begging to be reigned in by the government so they can retake control of companies they let get out of hand.
PEACE………Please Conservatives. The left is trying to goad you into lashing out and doing more stupid things like rushing the Capitol. STOP. If you want to march. Do it like the Tea Party.
IN PEACE. Do not play the lefts game and in 2 years the left will be hammered hard in the mid terms.
NO violence. Do not play the lefts game of letting them goad you into lashing out. That is what they want and it will only hurt the cause for the right which won back a dozen seats in the house and only lost the senate because the right was so angry over the vote they didnt turn out to vote in GA.
Peace. It is the only way to win. Violence will solve nothing and there are lots of things on the horizon that will reign in and END big TECHS power and the left themselves will punish Big Business as they regulate the hell out of these dumb asses that pissed on conservatives who support them.
Agree, far to early for violence and that is what the liberals desire. Start talking up the issue and forming groups. Merge with others of like mind as this will take a few years. Study the Irish wars, best way to throw out a tyrant. There will be war, but make sure it is not on the terms of the enemy.
😀
Ahhh yes David just a few more years…..go back to slerp
In a few more years…..
As if you were ever or will be ever ready to risk your ass in a fight for any reason
John,
Yes, I am too old. But I organize and then I get useful idiots like yourself to do my bidding. After all, you proved you will do stupid stuff in Vietnam and elsewhere, as you claim. You are a tool of the man.
Silly Person.
“They” are “necessary” and “important” and, so will have all the power they need. You? Not so much.
“Midterms”? Since they will control the machines, that “vote” has already been decided. “They” will never loose. Sucker.
I don’t think anyone here had enough jam in their nut savk yo ho to that rally/riot
Too risky
Might get hurt or fired or outed as being a QAnon nutter
But it is odd though, Hairy that communist BLM and fascist Antifa have no such fear of being fired, or outed as radical anti Americans. I wonder why? You burn down cities, establish “autonomous zones”, destroy homes and businesses, burn down police stations and federal buildings, rape beat and murder civilians and yet you aren’t considered anything more than “mostly peaceful”.
BTW, my foster son and three friends attended the “Stop the Steal” rally last week. I guess he has enough jam in his nut savk. He also told me it was peaceful where he was at. I guess when 36 people out of a group of over 300,000 make a mess everyone’s to blame unless they’re leftists.
Many more than 36 people attacked the US Capitol. Watch a few videos of the assaults. Few right-wingers have decried the insurrection.
Please note that last Wednesday thousands of traitors occupied the US Capitol Building in a quixotic attempt to stop the Constitutional vote certifying the electoral college. They were encouraged, urged, incited by the US President and others. The FBI is investigating the coordination of the insurrection with Republican Representatives and staff, especially Reps Gosar and Biggs (both: R-AZ).
This was a clumsy attempt to overthrow the US government. Most of the attendees, even many that occupied the US Capitol Building, the seat of democracy, were not violent (many observed the velvet ropes as they walked through the building!). But they have been misled daily for months by Trump, his A-Team, Republicans, right-wing media and conservabloggers such as TEACH, that the election was fraudulent (but no credible evidence). This atop the steady drumbeat for decades that government IS the problem. We guess the right-wing prefers anarchy.
Most Americans were horrified by the Republican attack on the US Capitol Building in an attempt to overturn a national election. While most Americans decried the violence of the BLM protests/riots, they agree that the oppression of Black Americans needs to stop.
YEP…I am all for buying Tesla’s. After all Elon Musk hates democrats and is thinking of starting his own Free speech platform to compete. He will simply use sattelites to store his servers. Google will probably shoot them down but oh well.
Buy Tesla’s folks. Elon Musk told California to go fuk themselves and is even suing one of the cities his plant was located in.
BUY THEM TESLAS. The richest man in the world is sympathetic to free speech and anti- SJW nonsense.
Buy them Teslas
