Yesterday at around 930 in the AM I got my J&J Covid-19 shot. A single dose as I don’t have time to be going back.
My wife and the rest of the family all got the Pfizer dose which is two shots. The first day for them they were mildly achy with mild headaches and were on their feet by the end of the second day. The start of the third day the symptoms were gone, only to have worse symptoms with the second shot.
I think I understand why Pfizer and Moderna want you to have 2 shots, so you don’t get your dik knocked in the dirt with a single shot.
My experience with the J&J vaccine. I took it at 930. The shot was very painful but only lasted about 2 minutes. After that the pain went away and for the most party 24 hours later I have little arm pain and no swelling.
HOWEVER…I was completely bedridden about 5 hours later until I got up at 4 am this morning still in pergatory from the flu like symptoms. My doctor buddy just told me that was a result of the J&J vaccine hitting you with both barrels at once and your body doing what its supposed to do.
Make anti-bodies and T-cells against the spikes injected into my body. 24 hours later I finally took an Aleve because taking one any sooner suppresses the bodies desire to make anti-bodies.
I have not run a fever and my headache is only mild. Still The aleve which is an Nasid has done a good job of reducing the pain to tolerable despite feeling fatigued.
Given my wife was sick 4 days with the Pfizer and I should be back to work tomorrow I would recommend the J&J vaccine to any still on the fence with the vaccine.
My decision for the J&J Vaccine.
J&J, CDC and NEJM show that the J&J vaccine increases in strength over time while being relatively weak against the Delta variant initially. As the weeks pass the body continues to produce Anti-bodies and T-cells making it stronger the longer it is in your system.
Since I self Isolate most of the time, I felt J&J was for me. If you are the type that is in public a lot, then the Pfizer or Moderna seem to be more efficatious early on against the Delta.
So I would not offer any advice. Other than do your research, square that with your lifestyle and make an informed decision.
I personally chose J&J because it seems to get stronger the longer its in your body which in an era of world wide anarchy I am not sure how many more shots will be available before the world collapses into chaos.
Congrats on your re-admission to the human race. It is now safe to roam about the cabin.
Your experience is typical. J&J risks are higher for women. They should take the other two and refuse the J&J (if they are inclined to be vaxxed at all). Men can tolerate J&J better. Normal responses I have heard is everyone gets knocked on their butt with the second shot for one day. (and then some people die, but your chances are VERY small. Almost too small to mention. Like all those side effects on other drugs that the FDA forces companies to disclose, but not for COVID.
I was at the front of the vax line and am still breathing. You should take comfort in that.
So far, the only thing the Pfizer vax has been “efficacious” on is letting me not wear a mask.
