Kerry calls out countries that need to ‘step up’ on climate change

John Kerry climateSpecial presidential envoy for climate John Kerry on Wednesday called out a handful of countries that need to “step up” on climate change, urging them to do more as the world works to stave off the worst effects of global warming.

Kerry, during an interview at the Reuters Next conference, said the current commitments of a number of countries fall short of what is necessary to limit global warning to 1.5C above pre-industrial levels.

“And that means you have China, India, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Indonesia, South Africa, a group of countries that are going to have to step up,” Kerry said.

“And we have to help them. This is not just unloaded responsibility on them,” he added.

Kerry has been adamant about China being part of the global fight against climate change, at one point saying the current climate situation cannot be rectified without “full engagement and commitment” from Beijing.

Right, right, like China will do a damned thing. Only fools think they’re serious. Though, they’re happy to sell cheap solar panels and stuff around the world. But, hey, I’ll start listening when all these climate cult elites practice what they preach

I love me some global warming! 72º F on December 2, 2021 at the Pico farm!

Our esteemed host wrote that only fools think that Russia and China are serious about doing anything to stop global warming climate change emergency, but let’s face facts: we have fools running our foreign policy.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met face-to-face with his Russian counterpart on Thursday to demand Russia pull back troops from the border with Ukraine, as tensions and suspicions grow in a confrontation over Ukraine’s increasingly close ties with NATO and the West.

Russia on one side and Ukraine, the U.S. and its NATO allies on the other traded fresh accusations and threats. The West, fearing that Moscow could invade Ukraine, threatened the Kremlin with the toughest sanctions yet if it launches an attack. Russia, seeing new U.S. and European support for Ukraine’s military, sternly warned that any presence of NATO troops and weapons on Ukrainian soil represents a “red line.”

There’s no threat quite like an empty threat, which is what Secretary Blinken delivered. President Biden could write a strongly, strongly! worded letter of disapproval, but no one is going to go to war against Russia over Ukraine, and Vladimir Vladimirovich knows it. He saw how the NATO leaders breathed a collective sigh of relief that Ukraine had declined NATO membership previously, when Russia sent in the troops in 2014.

Western Europe, especially Germany, is dependent upon Russia continuing to send natural gas through the pipeline. All Mr Putin has to do is restrict the flow, and Germany will fold . . . or freeze.

Actually, I would imagine that Secretary Blinken knows this, and really isn’t a fool. But the Democrats in general hope that the American people are fools enough to believe that the Administration’s strong words mean anything. Given that the American people were fool enough to elect Joe Biden, I can see how the Democrats would have such hopes.

So? Dana maybe the world should move away from fossil fuels controlled by Russia and Arabs ?
Should we go back to getting our homes with coal? Should Brandon do something g to reduce the record profits from US oil companies or would that be too socialistic ?

    • CarolAnn says:

How about we go back to energy independence and take care of America? Or does Brandon actually caring about America cause a conflict? I don’t care what “the world” does but we should move away from energy that finances our enemies. We should support nuclear power and put new nuke facilities on the fast track and screw all the damn non-safety related regs. Nobody actually cares about snail darters that’s just an excuse used to stop American productivity. We should do the same with oil pipelines and any form of energy beneficial to US power, safety, economics and citizenry. That shouldn’t need to be stated. It should be what all Americans and all American leaders stand for from the beginning.

Should Brandon do something to reduce the record profits from any US company? Is that now the goal and the job of the president (real or imagined) to decide which American companies deserve record profits and which don’t? Maybe he should decide which people deserve to make more money and which shouldn’t?

      Wow. Where were you educated?
