Climate change could lead to power outages, higher power costs on west coast of US
Two new studies led by a North Carolina State University researcher offer a preview of what electricity consumers on the West Coast could experience under two different future scenarios: one where excessive heat due to climate change strains power supplies, and one where the grid shifts toward renewable energy while the climate follows historic trends. In both cases, they found power costs and reliability remain vulnerable to extreme weather.
“The impacts of climate change and extreme weather events on the grid, mostly in the form of drought and heat waves, are going to get worse under climate change,” said Jordan Kern, assistant professor of forestry and environment resources at NC State. “Even as the West Coast grid moves away from fossil fuels toward wind and solar, these extreme weather events will still impact system reliability and the price of power.”
Published in the journal Earth’s Future, the two studies project future power supply and demand under separate scenarios. In the first study, researchers used computer models to simulate the impacts of climate change on the current power grid in California and the Pacific Northwest. They evaluated the grid’s price and reliability under 11 different climate scenarios between 2030 and 2060, drawing on multiple scientific models for how the climate would change under a “worst-case scenario” of fossil fuel emissions, and another less severe scenario.
Computer models. So, garbage. But, they both predict doom. Even if there’s lots and lots of “renewables” the price is going up and reliability down. Just like we’ve seen in California now.

He is about to unveil his new Tesla phone(which charges with SOLAR built-in and comes with no charger) that will blow Apple and Samsung out of the water. On top of that, he will use his OWN INTERNET of orbiting satellites so that he does not have to depend on Jeff Bezos or Tim Cook or Amazon or GOOGLE or Twitter or anyone else to make sure all his phones and his network works.
His phone is simply amazing and costs less than an Apple 13 or Samsung. He uses no carbon, the phones can be repaired, not thrown away and use no electricity to charge.
Apple and Amazon are about to take a huge hit. I would start shoring their stock if I was you. Same with google and Samsung.
I can’t wait to get my hands on the Apolitical Elon Musk Tesla phone that is basically a satellite phone that only the rich can afford with amazing download and upload speeds to his network of already prepositioned orbiting satellites.
Then we can all tell Amazon, Apple and Google to go to hell. Next up. Elon’s own Social media company so we can tell facebook, Instagram and YouTube to suck balls.

The price of solar keeps going down every year
It is now cheaper than building a new coal plant IF that would even be permitted.
The Tesla Mod 3 is now cheaper than the average cost of a new car sold in the USA which is now 46000 dollars. Teslas start at 45190. The Ci “riability” problems are/were mostly called by deferred maintenence (trimming trees from overhead wires) by the for profit company delivering power in Cali. They did that to boost short term profit. Public utilities need strong regulation (BIG GOVERNMENT) This was also seen in TX when it was hit by the severe cold last winter. Winterized wind turbines are successfully used in Canada, TX for profit companies didn’t pay extra and froze.

Professor Hairy, a computer model is only as good as the data used. Their data is flawed so their outcome is too. One cannot decide the desired outcome before they enter the data it would be like stealing an election, IOW cheating. You, like Dr. Dowd and most other far, far, far leftists are victims of “mass formation psychosis”. You buy everything the government and their “experts” are selling on every subject from climate to Covid. You thrive on fear, panic and hysteria. You are the ones Rahm Emanuel was referring to when he stated the left should never let a crisis go to waste. The Fauci corollary is “especially if it can be used to create a panic”. It’s okay. Millions of Americans and hundreds of millions of people all over the world suffer from this psychological infliction through no fault of their own other than willful ignorance and childlike gullibility. The only remedy seems to be to question everything especially when it comes from authority. Believe what you see them doing (like eating at the French Laundry or vacationing in Florida) not what they’re saying and forcing you to do under threat. But most of all when they keep telling you a vaccine works and you can see with your own eyes it does not it’s time to pull the plug on their bull crap.
