Ukraine war upended China’s plan to invade Taiwan, alleged FSB whistleblower says
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine upended Chinese President Xi Jinping’s timetable to invade Taiwan, according to documents purportedly written by a Russian intelligence analyst in one of Moscow’s security agencies.
“Xi Jinping was at least considering taking over Taiwan in the fall – he needs his own little victory to get re-elected for a third term – there the struggle within the elite is colossal,” an agent in Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), the successor agency to the KGB, allegedly wrote on March 9. China will hold its 20th Communist Party Congress this fall, and Xi has said it will be a “major event.” Analysts have predicted that Xi will either be re-elected as the general secretary of the Communist Party or be elected to the chairmanship of the party, a position that has not existed since 1982.
“Now, after the Ukrainian events, this window of opportunity has been closed to him, which gives the United States the opportunity to both blackmail Xi and negotiate with its competitors on favorable terms,” the FSB agent added. “It was in this case that we launched a trap mechanism for China with our actions.”
The agent added that the FSB is “seriously considering” claiming that “the battle on Ukrainian territory is a US war against China, in which the Americans simply set us up and used us.”
“The global clash between the US and China was inevitable,” the agent wrote. “After the war with Ukraine (although I may avoid using the term ‘operation’ here), the cost of resources in the world, especially energy ones, has gone up. The main victim of such actions becomes China, to which (I can confirm) were given guarantees that everything will end quickly. Therefore, China behaved tolerant in the past. But that was before that.”

Vladimir Osechkin, founder of the Gulagu.net human rights group, published the report on his Facebook page last week. He claimed that the same FSB agent wrote this document and the March 5 report that claimed a Russian victory in Ukraine had become a near impossibility.
Christo Grozev, who works for the Netherlands-based investigative journalism group Bellingcat, tweeted that he showed the March 5 letter to two FSB contacts, one current and one former employee. They had no doubt that the author was a colleague, he said.
The question now, if this is real, is “does China scuttle their plans, or go ahead with them?” Because Joe doesn’t seem to have the backbone or ability to stop China from invading Taiwan, just like with Ukraine. And, does the U.S. want to go to war for Taiwan?
The major problem facing the USA is its inability to defend Taiwan Directly. It would be a naval exercise pitting China’s land-based hypersonic missiles vs the US Carrier groups which have altered their Pacific patterns to stay beyond 1000 miles of the Chinese coastline.
The reason is that China’s hypersonic missiles have 1000 miles of range. However, having that range and proving you can hit a moving target 1000 miles away is something altogether different.
That being said the US carrier aircraft have a maximum effective range of 650 miles forcing the carrier strike groups inside the land-based missile range. Guam, Okinawa, and Japan will have to play an increasingly important role in any invasion putting South Korea on alert with the potential invasion of its nation from China and North Korea to split the forces of the USA in any pacific battle.
Xi is calculating that the USA will do nothing by placing North Korea on a war footing and moving several divisions of troops near the Korean border. His hope is that the USA will only provide arms much like Nato is doing for Ukraine. The reason that Xi potentially was forced to put off his invasion of Ukraine is there is not enough oil coming from Russia to maintain the Chinese economy if they invade Taiwan.
Worldwide sanctions would cripple China’s economy and in turn, China would cripple the world’s economy since in our infinite wisdom nearly all the NeoCons(which surprisingly includes a boatload of Democrats and EU leftists) has sold out their countries for the New World Order and the Great Reset.
Is this letter True? I would doubt it. Xi has not perfected his long-range hypersonic missiles and the USA would be able to decimate the landing forces coming across the channel with long-range Cruise missiles fired from B-52 and B1 and B2 bombers. Combined with the stand-off capability of submarine-launched cruise missiles directed at staging areas, The Chinese forces would face decimation before they even faced off against the heavily armed Taiwanese.
The only way Xi is going to invade Taiwan is if he can convince enough leftists that deprive the USA of adequate ENERGY as in fossil fuels until they have hung themselves without a shot being fired.
So this letter in my opinion is simply a bait and switch by Russia to force the USA to look toward Taiwan and leave Russia alone in Ukraine.

Would Xi do this after watching the world’s reaction to Russia’s foundering and floundering invasion of Ukraine? What will China do for cash if the U.S. and E.U. stop buying? To his credit President Zelenskyy did not supply information on now President Biden, his family or Burisma to trump or his henchmen, Giuliani and Barr. “Volod, that’s a nice country you got there, be a shame if somethin’ were to happen to it.”

That’s just it: we have two wide, wide oceans that have kept us safe from invasion, or at least military invasion; doesn’t seem to have stopped the invasion from the south. Germany couldn’t force an invasion of a near-prostrate United Kingdom over a water barrier as narrow as 15 miles across at Calais, and in the other direction it took the industrial power of the United States 2½ years to build up the might to invade France. We simply have no living memory of invasion and conquest.
The same oceans which have protected us for 250 years work the other way as well: how do we muster the military might to defend Ukraine or Formosa?
