If you scroll around the news outlets, most are not taking it well, failing to understand that the 2nd Amendment is a national Amendment, and does not preclude some gun control. What States cannot do is restrict a state from requiring citizens to show “need” for a permit. New Yorkers do not need to show a need to purchase a guitar, SUV, or fish tank. None of those are actual rights, so, the State could actually do that, right? If they were complete morons. Guns are a right.

Most of those centrists voted earlier this month for a package of separate gun reforms — which included provisions to raise the age for assault weapons purchases and bolster state red flag laws — but are set against an assault weapons ban.
So, it might be popular with the gun grabbing caucus, but, there are too many centrists to get it done. And not enough to pass in the Senate. But, they’ll still try. Before they lose Congress after the mid-terms.
More than that, it is returning a right to NY residents that residents in most of the other states already enjoy with provably no harm done.
She isn’t keeping anyone safe. She is oppressing them to death. She needs to get out of the way of them defending themselves.
So it is just election year show-boating, not a real attempt at improving life in America.

Fewer than 1000 Americans are killed each year by gun accidents – thousands more suffer serious injury – but that’s acceptable given all the benefits of having handguns handy. The firearm homicide rate has been increasing since 2016 after reaching a nadir under President Obama. There were some 13,000 gun homicides in 2020. And we average about 20,000 gun suicides per year.
On the plus side, guns make America much safer. The US already has the highest homicide rate of all advanced nations – just think how high the murder rate would be without all those guns!!

I was horrified living in Texas back in the 90’s when the state made it legal for citizens to open carry in the state.
I was livid. I thought there would be running gun battles on the interstate and people would be mowing each other down right and left.
An interesting thing happened. GUN VIOLENCE went down. There is something about going to a Walmart with the intent to shoot it up and then you realize half the people in the store could be packing. So after a few years, I started open carrying, before getting my concealed carry because I found open carry is just too stressful. It actually gives the advantage to the bad guy knowing you are carrying and it gives him time to figure out how to get the gun from you while you have no idea what he/she is planning.
Why do you think these evil bastards CHOOSE SCHOOLS and CHURCHES to shoot up? Or do it in states where people are not heavily armed.
I would rather run the risk of a shootout with some crazed madman while possessing a legal firearm myself than hoping that 911 call results in SCOTTY BEAMING A DOZEN POLICE OFFICERS TO ME INSTANTANEOUSLY.
In the end, we are all responsible for OURSELVES and OUR LOVED ONES. Just yesterday I was at the gun range re-zeroing my 300 blackout with my new SIG tactical scope and practicing with my Glock 19. I have ZERO desire to shoot anyone. I do however Conceal carry for a reason. MY wife and I both also carry pepper spray, which will always be our first choice.
Just remember if you decide to carry pepper spray and use it, you will be sued even if exonerated by a criminal court and that is why IF you decide you are going to defend yourself you should have something like USCCA on your side.

Well they made to mistake of importing masses of Africans. Now, you check this to get the proof and look at arrest records, and there it is, almost all of the violent crime arrest have a black/ brown perpetrator. No country is perfect. But other advanced nations have a much lower homicide rate than does the US. Australia, the UK, Canada, many European nations are, “diverse” yet with much lower homicide rates.
