Climate cultists just can’t help themselves
A recent Washington Post essay faced backlash online after listing common Thanksgiving foods and their “climate impact” in order to inform readers which of the festivity’s staples can be consumed “with a clear conscience.”
The Thursday article by food columnist Tamar Haspel, titled “The climate impact of the Thanksgiving meal might surprise you,” begins with the author admitting that “tallying the environmental impact of a holiday feast” does not seem to be in the holiday spirit.
“I know, I know, nobody wants to put ‘climate’ and ‘Thanksgiving’ in the same sentence,” she continues.
Reassuring readers of the “good news” that the mainstays of the meal — poultry and plants — make Thanksgiving “a much more climate-friendly holiday than, say, the burgerfest that is the Fourth of July,” the author then lists typical Thanksgiving dishes alongside “how they stack up, climate-wise.”

The WP says that most of our Thanksgiving foods are sorta OK for their carbon footprint. Which is interesting, because I could easily go back and look at my posts from previous years and see the unhinged Warmist nutjobs whining about the carbon footprint of Thanksgiving. They are all just such miserable, nagging people.
In response, many slammed the essay’s attempt to push climate “guilt” onto the family-oriented festivity.
“[H]ave you considered the fact that sharing a festive meal with your loved ones might be destroying the world, actually?” wrote Founders Fund Vice President Mike Solana.
No, they really do not care.
Thanksgiving dinner will be at my sister-in-law’s home, where the turkey will be baked in an electric oven. However, the sparktricity for te oven will have been generated at a fossil-fuel burning power plant, so the obvious question is: will that be more or less CO2 than if we roasted it here, in our propane-fired range?
Thew truth? I really don’t care, and I don’t think too much of the Karens who do care.
Happy Thanksgiving dinner is at our energy efficient little house with some 25 relatives! Cousins, second cousins, grandkids, aunts, uncles, sons, daughters… farmer, federal attorney, x-ray tech, doctors, teacher, accountants, students, tech-expert, railroader, chemist, machinist, businesswoman, musicians, car parts distributor, minister… libs, cons (few)… even lesbians… pro-life, pro-choice… cancer survivors (3)… Catholics, lapsed Catholics, Methodists, Lutherans, a Mormon, agnostics, atheists… At least 10 deer hunters and gun owners (rifles, shotguns, pistols, muzzle loaders)! A cross-section of America! But admittedly, no blatant trumpetists.
This same crewe gets together every summer in the MO Ozarks +/- a few other friends and relatives for a week-long vacation – fishing, swimming, picking and singing, beer drinking, fish-fries, skiing etc. Using boats burning gasoline!!
We’ll use an electric roaster apart from the electric range being used for pies etc. As backward as Redneck MO is, we have renewables and the Calloway nucular plant!
And yes, get togethers such as this generate CO2!! But what doesn’t? Everyone does their best.
Climate change deniers (CCDs) criticize climate realists as hypocrites for emitting even one molecule of CO2! A 50% reduction, a 90% reduction, even a 99% reduction is not good enough! Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good!

You misunderstand the admonition.
“Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good”, in the global warming context, refers to the winger whine that global warming realists (slurred as “warmists” by Teach) STILL emit CO2. Even their EVs are made with petro chemicals. Even some of their electricity comes from coal plants. Even their hybrids spew some CO2. They even still warm their homes with natural gas or coal-fired electricity!!
No emissions would be “perfect”, although not practical. Cutting emissions by 20% or 50% or 90%, while not “perfect” is still “good”. If global emissions were half of what they’ve been over the past century instead of atmospheric CO2 of 420 ppm it would be only about 350 ppm today. Not “perfect” but still “good”.
Just because you can’t do everything doesn’t mean you shouldn’t something.

Which is about 5% of a ton
Divided between 5diners that makes it 1% of a ton
The cost of carbon offsets for 1perdon would be about 4cents
