Every fall, we see yet another influenza vaccine, for the strain of flu that scientists think we’ll see; occasionally, they guess wrong. Some people take the flu vaccines, and some do not; having a very strong constitution and immune system, I have almost always skipped the flu vaccine, and almost — not never — gotten sick. My risk, and my choice.
That is what should happen with the COVID-19 vaccines: people assessing their risks, and people taking their choices. Given that COVID is now just about as serious as the flu — some few will die, a few more will get seriously ill, a large number will get mildly ill, and most will not get sick at all — there is no reason to treat it any differently than the flu.
Should the government not recommend that people get vaccinated? Is that too much coercion?
So, Dr Jha is an ‘affirmative action’ diversity hire. LOL.
Dr Jha is a Harvard MD, also trained in public health, including as a public health official in the DOD, and an MPH from Harvard. He’s currently on leave from Brown U where he’s the Dean of the School of Public Health. He is eminently qualified. Is it only white males be considered? Jha was likely not on FOX but was on all the other networks as an expert on viral pandemics.

Sure Jha’s allowed to recommend people be vaxxed.
In an appeal to authority, the arguer claims an authority figure’s expertise to support a claim despite this expertise being irrelevant or overstated. Dr. Jha isn’t a virologist, immunologist or vaccinologist so his expertise is being overstated to say the least. He was on FOX News. But as a physician or an American he can suggest any damn thing he wants.
Do you think they would want him if he as an “expert” spoke of the lack of efficacy in the fake vaccines? That should also be his right but leftists don’t think so.
Anything leftists disagree with is no longer debatable, questionable or considered in any way and should be banned from the free speech we enjoy as Americans as well as from Twitter and every other news/social outlet. That’s how the left rolls. Since the censorship of the Soviets and Nazis till today all leftists are censors by virtue of the fact they are never, ever wrong.
But the one thing guys “experts” like Jha should never be allowed is to DEMAND people should be vaxxed against their will.
The left, because of their vehement hatred of Trump politicized medicine to the point where I wouldn’t believe anything one of their “experts” said unless he revealed who he voted for and who pays him and how much. One may as well take the word of dowd. LOL

The vaccines are efficacious. So no, the gov’t would not put a science denier in place as a science advisor.
Just as they wouldn’t put an election denier in charge of elections. Or a flat-earther in charge of NASA. That would be daft or even tRumpian.
You are calling for the politization of science. tRump wisely chose physician-scientists, Drs Fauci, Birx, Redfield, Hahn, Adams, Giroir as advisors and Alex Azar as HHS head. tRump had to walk a fine line between supporting what was medically and scientifically sound vs the stupid ideas from his reactionary fringe, vaccines are killers, ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, bleach, mask are tyranny etc.
Not all ideas are equally valuable.
