Utah GOP Governor to Californians fleeing to his state due to crime, taxes: ‘Stay in California’
Utah’s Republican Governor suggested Friday that California residents who are looking to join the recent population exodus into Republican states like Utah should stay in California.
“We’re having the opposite problem, this last census confirmed that Utah was the fastest-growing state in the last ten years,” Utah Gov. Spencer Cox told reporters outside the White House after New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy discussed ways he will encourage people to move to his state.
“So our biggest problems are more growth related. We would love for people to stay in California instead of coming as refugees to Utah, so we’re always trying to figure that out.”
Cox explained that the biggest problems his state faces in terms of growth are housing and water.
“We’re not working to attract more people,” Cox said. “We’re doing just fine that way. Utah was named the best state to start a business, with Texas and Florida number two and three, so we feel really good about that balance and where we are right now.”
I bet if you’re a Conservative you’d be welcome, because they’d be bringing Utah values, rather than the Progressive (nice Fascism) insanity.
Cox’s remarks come as Californians have fled the Golden State at record numbers in recent years due to a variety of reasons that include high taxes, crime, coronavirus lockdowns, homelessness and skyrocketing housing prices.
California saw its population fall by more than 343,000 people in 2022 which was one of the biggest population declines of any state.
It’s so strange that the people who vote for the Democrat politicians who institute hardcore Democrat policies, along with voting for the wacko far left ballot measures, are running from everything they voted for. Did they not think that the fallout would apply to their own lives and money? Their own safety? The problem is, when they flee the People’s Republik Of California they then want to bring the same bat guano insane beliefs with them, and agitate for them.

But housing and water concerns don’t care about a person’s politics; even the furthest left whacko needs water to live.
Housing? Housing is so overpriced in California that someone who sells his home there is bringing both a bigger down payment, if not the ability to buy a new home for cash, and an elevated expectation of what housing costs, that he might be pushing housing prices higher in Utah.
It might not be as bad as one might think. If the population of California is decreasing, many will either not sell their home or sell it for much cheaper than it’s worth.

The GOP should access a nationwide voter register to keep Dem voters from invading sovereign states such as Utah. The state is about 80% non-Hispanic whites, over 60% Mormon, with a smattering of blacks, native Americans, Asians and some 14% Hispanic whites. Like most American states, Utah ruralites vote overwhelmingly for Republicans, even a deeply flawed man like Trump. Urbanites (Salt Lake and surrounding) vote for Dems. In what should frighten Repubs, large rural counties along the border with Colorado are trending Dem, with Biden even winning Grand County. Utah needs to keep the Dem infiltrators out!! The GOP needs their 6 electoral votes.
Mr H is correct. The GOP is staring down the barrel of a demographic scattergun. The best case scenario is the GOP will moderate their reactionary positions to attract more voters, but the more realistic approach is conservatives pursuing their white nationalist attempts to rule by power (see 06 Jan 2021).

There were court decisions stating that various governors were taking unconstitutional actions, though most involved the selective natures of which organizations were ordered closed down versus closing down things overall. Fortunately, Associate Justice Ruth Ginsberg went to her eternal reward, and was replaced by Amy Barrett, because while Mrs Ginsberg was on the Supreme Court, the Court approved some of the stupidity, and after Mrs Barrett became an Associate Justice, some of those same things were overturned.
Governor Cox is male, and is properly addressed as Governor; Mrs Raimondo is female, and was thus properly addressed as Governess.
