Riley Gaines challenges Dem senator, says rights of women, girls ‘thrown out the window’
Former college championship swimmer Riley Gaines challenged Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Dick Durbin, D-Ill., on Wednesday after he accused Republicans of promoting “hateful rhetoric” by questioning the rights of transgender youth.
Gaines was on Capitol Hill as a witness for the Senate’s hearing on LGBTQ civil rights, where Durbin said lawmakers need to be careful when talking about this issue.
“At this point, I’d like to remind our colleagues, our children are listening, and they are in danger,” Durbin said. “In fact, today, transgender youth are among the most at risk of homelessness, depression and death by suicide. So, when these young people who are already struggling hear politicians amplify hateful rhetoric that denies their very existence, what message does it send?”
Did Durbin ever consider that they are most at risk because they are basically mentally ill, and Democrats are pushing kids to be trans, leading to the mental illness problems?
Later in the hearing, Gaines pushed back and told Durbin he needs to think about biological women and girls who she said are at a disadvantage competing against trans people.
“Sen. Durbin, in your opening statement, you had mentioned this rhetoric,” she said. “You had mentioned that, what message does it send to trans individuals? And my comeback to that is, what message does this send to women, to young girls, who are denied of these opportunities?”
“So easily, their rights to privacy and safety thrown out of the window to protect a small population, protect one group as long as they’re happy,” she said. “What about us? That is the overall general consensus of how we all felt in that locker room.”
One has to wonder where are the feminist groups are? Why are they not out there looking to protect females from biological males in their locker rooms, changing rooms, bathrooms, showers, sports, taking away wins, taking away positions in a variety of things, having the males expose themselves to the real women, even, in some cases, violating them.
Seriously, what’s in it for Democrats? Is it worth dumping real women?

It’s actually pretty simple: for the ‘woke,’ it is necessary to take the furthest, most insane leftist position possible, or, Heaven forfend!, they might be aiding evil reich-wing Republicans!
I loved Robert E Howard’s Conan series, and practically devoured the old twelve-volume Lancer Books series. Then, in the 1990s mostly, other authors decided to take a whack at Conan tales, and you could really see the differences. What Mr Howard wrote, later filled in by L Sprague de Camp and Lin Carter in the 1960s, men were men and women were women. But, come the 1990s, there were a lot of warrior women in the new Conan novels, women who could stand toe-to-toe with bigger men in a swordfight, women who could kick ass. Comic books were apparently filled with the same stuff.
As the superhero movies of this century took hold, women were again depicted as the physical equals of men in the knock down, drag out fights.
This was, of course, all pure fantasy. While there have always been a few, few! female athletes at the top of their games able to beat average men, physiologically, nothing changed. Men were, and are, at the norm, taller, stronger, quicker, faster, with greater endurance, lung and heart capacity, than women, all differences which make a difference when it comes to sports. Yet, as nearly as I can see, today’s woke left cling to the fantasy view of women, as Supergirl, Black Widow, and Wonder Woman. They live in a comic book fantasy, not reality.

At the most elite levels of performance, world records, women perform at around 90% of men. Androgen supplements are banned in sports for good reasons. Of course, elite athletes spend a lifetime training to optimize their performances, but it’s likely that in most high school and college athletics the performance differences between males and females are even greater.
There exist individuals who, for incompletely understood reasons, deeply and sincerely feel that the sex they were assigned at birth is incorrect. Some of these individuals feel so strongly about this that they are willing to undergo hormonal therapies and even surgical procedures to align their physical and physiological characteristics with their self-perceptions.
Many of these individuals participated in sports before they began transitioning and desire to continue. Sports governance bodies are struggling with how to deal with this in terms of fairness to the trans women as well as cis-women.
Once testosterone is removed/blocked, how quickly do trans women lose their “maleness” athletic advantages? The current IOC regulations allow trans women athletes to compete if testosterone levels have been lowered to <10 nmol/L for 12 months prior to competition, but this is arbitrary and largely unsupported by research. Some physical and physiological advantages may not be lost at all. Recent studies show the loss of muscle strength in trans women is minimal even after 1 year.
As an aside, while I suspect I’d really enjoy a wrestling match with Ronda Rousey, she’d win.

For the record. There is currently no medical procedure that can change a biological male into a biological female. None. The best that can be done is to strip away the actual biological sex organs and perform cosmetic surgery. As a bonus, the recipients also get a boost to their lifetime risk of suicide. So everything about this practice is cloaked by activists in deception. Not one single thing the activists say about this is true. Even the Gay and Lesbians are looking at these people and wondering how they wormed their way into their group and seem to have hijacked their agenda.
Males are not transitioning to females. They are transitioning to genderless eunuchs with expensive
surgical cosmetic appearances applied. When put like this, it becomes obvious that anyone who wants this for themselves must be insane. Anyone who wants this for someone else is cruel or evil. No amount of trans activist stories about how someone doesn’t feel right will make it less evil.
Only LGBTQI+ activists claim this is a good thing. I suspect it is because they like little boys and “transitioned” youths keep that little boy appearance longer. There is no reason at all why the rest of society should support or encourage this practice and every reason to forbid it.
