This article is rather surprising: it’s rare that the Credentialed Media rarely notices the authoritarianism inherent in the climate cult system. Of course, they do not seem too concerned with instituting Fascism
Governments and individuals debate: Are mandates needed to reach climate change targets?
Governments, organizations and businesses have set ambitious goals to combat climate change. But it is far from clear that those goals can be met without forcing people to do — or not do — certain things.
And that is causing some consternation, even among some people who acknowledge the need to slow the warming of the planet.
This week, New Jersey has gone into more detail about its climate change goals, including its proposed ban on the sale of new gasoline-powered vehicles by 2035, and a push to “decarbonize” public and private buildings by switching from natural gas to electric heating and appliances.
Shawn LaTourette, New Jersey’s environmental protection commissioner, hesitates to use the word “mandate” in describing the state’s plans.
“There are interests out there that tune into the narrative of heavy-handed government forcing people to do things,” he said. “That is not what is happening.”
Except, that is exactly what they’re doing. If you are stopping people from being able to purchase certain items, if you’re saying they will soon only be able to buy an EV (though, a goodly chunk won’t be able to afford them), that’s heavy handed governmental force. If you’re telling them they cannot eat certain things, telling them they can only fly once in a blue moon, that they should take the train or bus, that they should live in tiny homes, and all the other stuff, that’s force. These people think they are dictators, that they can lord over the very people who vote and that the elected officials, and bureaucrats, are supposed to be responsible to.
Anjuli Ramos, New Jersey director of the Sierra Club, agreed that meeting climate goals requires urgent action. But she said New Jersey’s steps are “not really a mandate.”
“This is us transitioning to where the market is already going,” she said. “It’s not like the car police are going to go up and down the street taking away every gasoline-powered vehicle.”
If government is deciding for the people, well, that’s a mandate. It’s naked governmental force. Period.

There was a story recently about a guy who bought something like 1,700 incandescent light bulbs before the ban went into effect. Most people have willingly switched to LED bulbs, which really are an improvement, but the left just love to use force.
The market for incandescents was slowly dying a natural death, because the LEDs were a major improvement, and the prices had come down dramatically. Who wouldn’t want a light bulb that actually lasted much longer — unlike the phony claims for the CFL bulbs — used less electricity, and didn’t generate the heat incandescent bulbs do?
But no! Our Betters decided that market forces just weren’t good enough, and had to ban incandescent bulb manufacture and, later, sales.
The Tesla Mod 3 now costs 40000$, 10 percent LESS than the average cost of a new car sold in the USA
If you are making 75000$ per year you can also probably reduce that to 32000 by taking the fed tax credit.
Dana is correct, in the USA a goodly chunk of Americans can not afford a or any new car. This is especially true in the impoverished South. Our poorest states have been voting Republican for 50 years, keeping unions out and wages low and elites rich
you are truly a self concerned Nazi period
Dear H:
The price is $40,240, BASE.
“The 2024 Tesla Model 3 is expected to start at about $42,000 and go up to about $55,000.
The base trim level comes with just one motor driving the rear wheels, but all others have two motors and all-wheel drive. The base rear-wheel-drive model is a good value, but its 272 miles of EPA-estimated driving range may not be enough to eliminate range anxiety for some drivers. We’d recommend the Long Range model that offers an estimated 333 miles of driving per charge.”
The average ICE price of $48,000 contains everything that is extra. So your example doesn’t work.
And the PRICE reduction only works for SOME people. But it is paid by ALL taxpayers.

Dear H:
No, it isn’t going to be free.
“. And in line with our purpose, we aim to offer Every Day Low Price charging – helping ease transportation costs, still the second highest household cost for much of our country.”
And the cost of building the charging stations and the maintenance will be folded in and then passed on via price increases.
H, I know you like to BS and lie, but remember what Heinlein said in ’52.
TANSTAAFL There aint no such thing as a free lunch.

Carbon boy had trouble with basic economics….
Hey stupid, there was nothing woke about offering free EV charging that’s just a good business up to get people in. It’s called capitalism. Which you don’t like as a communist. Nobody’s gonna boycott a business for offering a premium to use their services.
You really have absolutely no idea how business operates do you? Moron
Well, yes.
If the market is already going there, dimwit, why is government force needed? Evidently she is a product of government schools.
““This is us transitioning to where the market is already going,” she said. “It’s not like the car police are going to go up and down the street taking away every gasoline-powered vehicle.”
That’s what they said about sea belts.
