She could have purchased a Chevy Bolt, but, that would apparently have been Inconvenient
AOC’s admission over her Tesla purchase sparks debate online: ‘Do as I say, not as I do’
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a strong supporter of both the environment and American unions, Electrek reported. That’s why she wants to trade in her Tesla Model 3 for a union-made EV. Just one problem: she can’t find one.
The issue came up in a recent interview on “Face The Nation,” Electrek revealed. In the clip, AOC speaks about her need for a vehicle with the range to safely travel between Washington, D.C., and Queens, New York, a distance of 240 miles. At the time that she bought her car in 2020, a Tesla was her best option.
Tesla’s five million EVs aren’t union-made. In fact, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been outspoken against unions, even interfering with unionization efforts, Electrek explained.
However, at the time she bought her car, most other EVs weren’t, either, Electrek said. The only exception that was manufactured in the U.S. was the Chevy Bolt. The Bolt is an outstanding vehicle, Electrek said — but with a maximum range of 247 miles and slow charging speeds, it wouldn’t have been ideal for AOC’s situation.
Not ideal? You mean like how most EVs are “not ideal” for most Americans, but, they’re going to be jammed down our throats? Huh. If she really cared, she could stop and charge it up, maybe get something to eat, since it is around 228 miles from NYC to DC.
But, does anyone really believe AOC is constantly driving between DC and NYC? Who thinks she flies more?
Today, as she says she’s “looking into trading in our car now,” the selection is only slightly better. While many foreign manufacturers use union labor, in the U.S., aside from the Model 3 and the Bolt, AOC would be limited to the Ford F-150 Lightning, the Hummer EV, the Cadillac Lyriq, or the E-Transit — none of which are a good fit for her range needs. The upcoming Chevy Blazer and Equinox could be what AOC is looking for, however, as both reportedly have build options that reach about 300 miles per charge.
And, expensive. Gotta be tough on a Congress Critter’s salary, right? She’s basically saying you should be paying more and getting less.
Also, why can’t she take Amtrak? Sure, it would take longer, but, it is unionized. Probably doesn’t want to rub shoulders with the peasants.
Tesla employees prefer stock options and other benefits over UAW control and union dues.
AOC is certifiable.
The entire EV tech stream has never been ready for market and there’s very little incentive to improve very much. They are less efficient, less durable, more expensive to maintain, have shorter lifespans and are not economically recyclable. Tesla has some excellent features but most of those have zero to do with them being an EV.
Just burn the friggin’ petroleum.
Oops! Looks like I forgot to close the quote tag; only the first paragraph is an actual direct quote.
I started a company called “De-Lectrified” and have begun sending out initial bids to remove charging stations from any areas that need it. Once the inability to use EV’s shows itself and they finally agree to the reality that EV’s are garbage, companies like my company will be necessary to remove all these ridiculous and harmful electric charging stations. Especially as they become old unmaintained and dangerous.
I wish to thank all the members of the cult and members of the Democrat/commie party for the billions of dollars I will make doing this endeavor.

Dana her long range Mod can easily go the 240 miles. AOC would like to see more union made affordable EV models made for Americans.
The Tesla Mod. Y has the 2nd highest passenger car sales in the USA (after Toyota Rav)
Tesla has just cut its prices again, the Mod Y has a good chance of regaining the #1 sales spot.
Last year EVs were 5.8% of the US market. This year 8%. Can you see the trend here? What do you think it will be in 2024? 10%? …. 12%?
There is often a tipping point in new technology where sales jump. Obviously this happened with cell phones, then again with smart phones. It WILL also happen with EVs
Every month there are advances in battery energy density, reduced charging times, cost reduction, and increased longevity.
The Pepsi Tesla semis had a 2/3s fuel cost reduction.

Sooner or later then question will be:
How can we charge all these EV’s at peak busy hour when we don’t generate and distribute enough electricity?
And the answer will be, something called rationing. You will be issued a time and space slot based on your social credit.
Oh, you used the forbidden pronouns? Got caught jaywalking?
Sorry, no charging for you.
In the U.S., we have a market based economy. When demand increases, there are many companies who will want to profit from it by increasing supply. You think when gas autos first came out, there were enough fuel stations around for everyone to own a combustion auto instead of horse carriage? When smart phones first came out, was there enough bandwidth to all download/stream music and videos?
Sooner or later, big corporations with the help of their employees (politicians) will fill the gap in energy distribution for profit and you will have many options for charging, until they all merge and consolidate down to only one or two monopolies extorting us yet again.
Johnny-why do we need EVs?
A Model 3 Long Range has an estimated range of 272 miles to 333 miles, depending on final configuration and conditions. At best, that would leave at most 93 miles of reserve, That is pretty slim for someone on a time budget. Considering my mid sized ICE luxury X-over will deliver 350~400 miles on a tank when making this type drive and working petrol stations aren’t hard to find.
AOC wants an ‘affordable, union-made EV with the range’, sounds like an oxymoron to me. Of course, that term could be used to describe the charming MS. AOC.
Jame Lewis’ comment raised the big question. EV’s simply aren’t ready for prime time.
