Typically when you get the Political Class answering a question they will jump in and find some sort of reason to make things sound rosy. Especially when they know things aren’t. FBI Director Christopher Wray went silent Tuesday when questioned over whether the country is safer since President Biden took office.
“Is the United States safer from foreign terror threats today? Are we safer than when Joe Biden took office — from the day he took office?” Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., asked Wray during a Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing.
Wray took an extended pause, sitting silently and appearing to be in deep thought before finally answering.
“What I would say to you is that the terror threats have elevated. But I also think there are a lot of things the country has done throughout law enforcement to be better prepared to deal with them,” he said, not directly saying whether the country has become safer under Biden’s watch.
“I asked FBI Director Wray a simple question: is the U.S. safer today than it was before [Joe Biden] took office? After nearly 10 seconds of silence, he finally admitted what we all know… ‘…the terror threats have elevated…'” Scott wrote on X, formerly Twitter, after the hearing.
During the hearing, Wray warned that the threat of a terror attack against Americans has been raised to a “whole other level” due to ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Wray’s “thoughtful” answer was a way to minimize how bad things apparently are, and was a really bad look. Is it that bad that he wanted to avoid lying to Congress with something like “yes, it is safer, we’re in a great place, we have all sorts of measures in place”? He barely attempted to deflect the question.
Maybe it’s because the Southern border is wide open and it’s not just people from Mexico, Central America, and South America showing up, but, thousands of special interest aliens from the Middle East, with tons being released and tons that we do not know about? Or, perhaps that huge numbers of Americans and imports who expressed solidarity with a State Department designated terrorist group, Hamas, and their hatred of Jews? And many of those imports are teaching their Islamic extremism and voting in lawmakers who also sympathize with Islamic extremism? That Biden has created weakness with his failure in Afghanistan, leading to bad things happening in the world, which could end up here?
Why would terrorists be concerned? Democrats can’t even stop, nor try to stop, basic criminality like looting.
Mr Teach may not have noticed, but there is renewed direct conflict between Israel and Hamas! It’s been in all the papers. President Biden offered the full support of the United States to Israel which is triggering for Islamic terrorists.
Does Mr Teach believe that President Biden should pull back on US support of Israel? Is that why Speaker Mike “Tiny” Johnson (R-LA) backs Hamas??
Republicans only recognize threats from Muslims and ignore that thousands of white Christians overran the United States Capitol in a failed coup a few years ago.

Neither Muslims nor Mexicans/Venezuelans attacked the United States Capitol to stop the Peaceful Transfer of Power, the former cornerstone of the US democratic republic. These were white Christian citizens in support of then-president trump.

I think it is fair for a political appointee to not want to make statements that he knows will become campaign commercials for the opposition party of his own party.
It would have been better for congresspeople to question his about raw facts and then draw their own conclusions about comparisons to the previous administration.
Same reason why everything Karine Sean-Pierre says is “President Biden has been very clear on this issue”, “President Biden takes this very seriously”, and “I have already answered that question”. Making sure nothing she says can be used in opposition campaigns is really her only job.
