Bethany Hamilton is, by all accounts, one of those people who fit the definition of “the best of us.” She had her arm bitten off by a shark while surfing as a teen, and was back surfing within months. Rather than be a victim, she used that experience to better herself, help others, and inspire people. If you watched her on The Amazing Race, she and her husband were the people everyone roots for, everyone likes. She’s also devoutly Christian, which infuriates the Tolerant Left
Midwest LGBTQ+ Community Protests Event Headlined by Surfer Bethany Hamilton
Kauai’s Bethany Hamilton is a surfer, author, mother, and shark attack survivor.
She recently gave birth to her fourth child, competed in the Vans Pipe Masters, and was invited to attend the Oshkosh Women’s Fund’s Annual Power of the Purse event as the keynote speaker in Wisconsin.
But in light of Hamilton’s stance on transgender athletes, the event’s been met with backlash as community members demand that she be replaced.
The controversy stems from Hamilton’s early 2023 announcement that she would officially withdraw from future World Surf League competitions in response to its policy on allowing transgender athletes to compete.
In a letter obtained by WLUK-TV, members and allies of Oshkosh’s LGBTQ+community retaliated against the Fund’s decision to select Hamilton as the keynote speaker. In the lengthy letter, protesters explained their decision to boycott Hamilton.
Yeah, the group is totally opposed to Bethany having a different opinion, despite how much she’s helped women and inspired so many girls, because Bethany doesn’t want to compete against men. And, look, watching women surf, especially professionals, is awesome. But, they cannot really do some of the things men do. You won’t see as many aerials or 360s, some of the cuts will not be as hard, because they just do not have the muscle mass as the professional male surfers.
The crazy people’s letter concludes
“We all look forward to the day we can celebrate, positively amplify, and support this event. Once the Women’s Fund has removed and replaced Bethany Hamilton as keynote speaker for this and any future events and issued a public statement of apology to the LGBTQ+ community, we stand ready to accept that apology, end our objections, and extend our sincere wishes for their and your continued success.”
Apology? For what? Allowing people to have their say? It’s too bad all these women in these groups can’t be replaced by men pretending to be women. The caterwauling would be epic and hilarious.

The men in drag sure are intolerant and want real women to know their place.
I hope that Oshkosh Women’s Fund tells this nest of vipers to piss up a rope.
Mr Teach typed: She’s also devoutly Christian, which infuriates the Tolerant Left
They objected to her actions, not her beliefs. If by devout Mr Teach means demeaning trans females, advocating abortion bans, demeaning other LGBTQ persons, etc, people are within their rights to object to Ms Hamilton’s speech.
Sports organizations segregate contestants according to various criteria including sex, weight (boxing, wrestling), age, disability, skill (amateur golf, tennis). Some sports now allow trans women but are struggling with defining fairness. Many limit participation unless testosterone levels have been below some limit for 12 months which still may not be fair. Athletes born male do not lose all biological advantages even with 12-24 mo testosterone suppression.

The distinguished Mr Dowd wrote:
As it happens, I was preparing my own article on the subject, though I used a different source than did our esteemed host, Newsweek. Here’s the money line from Newsweek:
That’s dead on target. There are no athletic safety issues involved, since surfing is not a contact sport. But the article is also dead on in stating that a lot of people do not “accept transgender women as (real) women.”
I found this inPsychology Today, not exactly an evil reich-wing source:
It seems that 97%+ of normal men and women don’t consider the ‘transgendered’ real members of the sex they claimed to be, at least not to the extent of being willing to engage in, or even consider, a romantic relationship with them.
There are more people who are willing to call ‘transgender women’ real women for matters not so personally close as the romantic, because it just seems so much nicer, so much more polite, but it’s really a way of not only lying to other people, but lying to yourself. There is also, of course, the clear pressure on the ‘progressive’ left to take the furthest left position possible on anything even remotely concerned with sex, for fear that they would otherwise somehow legitimize a position held by evil reich-wingers.
There’s more on my humble site.

Chicken Little Man
They objected to her actions, not her beliefs.
And what were her actions? Did she stage a “mostly peaceful” riot? No.
Did she condemn men claiming to be women? No.
Did she say she wouldn’t compete against a trans person who is a male? Yes. That’s it. She said she wouldn’t play in a rigged game. I mean, how gauche of her.
This says it all.
Bethany Hamilton has a protected legal right to express her anti-transgender views. She is not, however, protected from dissent or criticism over them. Neither is she guaranteed a platform, an audience, or a paycheck despite them.
In other words, shut the fuck up buttercup. You piss us off. You can think what you want, you just can’t say it.
Kinda reminds me of the racists attacking Dr. King.
Another super tolerant tranny.
Rimjob will probably call it a MAGAt.
