Europe must get ready for looming war, Donald Tusk warns
The Polish prime minister, Donald Tusk, says Europe is entering a “prewar” era, cautioning that the continent is not ready and urging European countries to step up defence investment.
In an interview with a group of European newspapers reported by the BBC, Tusk said: “I don’t want to scare anyone, but war is no longer a concept from the past. It’s real and it started over two years ago.”
Tusk’s comments came days after a Russian missile briefly breached Polish airspace during a major attack on Ukraine, prompting Warsaw to put its forces on heightened readiness. Ukrainian officials have said large-scale Russian missile and drone attacks had targeted energy infrastructure.
Tusk has been using his platform to try to add a sense of urgency to Europe’s debates about defence and aid to Ukraine, amid fears about the future of American assistance and concerns about defence industrial capacity.
“True solidarity with Ukraine? Less words, more ammunition,” he wrote on social media earlier this month.
Well, have at it. No one is stopping you. Being right next to Russia Poland should probably have kept it’s military pretty strong. The question here is, can Russia roll right over Poland and into the rest of Eastern Europe than into Western Europe? They aren’t able to take down Ukraine, at least not with the arms and money the West has given pay Ukraine lawmakers their salaries. And graft money.
He called for urgent assistance for Kyiv, saying the next two years of the war would decide everything and that “we are living in the most critical moment since the end of the second world war”.
What was most worrying was that “literally any scenario is possible,” Tusk said. “I know it sounds devastating, especially to people of the younger generation, but we have to mentally get used to the arrival of a new era. The prewar era,” he said.
So, we just keep giving money to support a stalemate? In a war with really no true implications? One in which Putin felt no concern in starting after Biden’s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal and other weaknesses? Hey, remember when Obama said no to missile defense in Poland? Who was Veep then?

Had we elected Trump rather than the idiot that’s in the White House Trump would have negotiated this as a matter of fact it wouldn’t have come to this if Trump were in office.

The Ukrainians were prepared to negotiate that peace — not just before 24 Feb 2022, but for six weeks afterward. The American state department sent Boris Johnson to put a stop to that.

Since Trumpists believe that Putin invaded Ukraine because he did not want another NATO nation on his border, what explains Putin’s failure to invade Finland which has a 1500 km border with Russia and only joined NATO less than a year ago!!

If trump drops out of the race, haley does not automatically win. All the other candidates are still in the campaign, just not active. The convention would decide the candidate and haley has no chance of being that winner. The most likely hypotheyical winner is DeSantis.
Haley was never popular enough with republicans which is why she depends mostly on democrats donors and crossover votes in the primary. None of those crossover votes will stand with her in the general election.
