There are several cases similar to Mr Trumps, where New Yorkers were charged with falsifying business documents in furtherance of violation of election laws.
In 2017, Richard Brega was charged with ten felony counts of falsifying business records, namely that “with the intent to defraud and commit another crime and to aid and conceal the commission thereof”. He had used others’ names to donate to a candidate in NY. He was sentenced to a year in prison.
In 2003, Democratic NY State Assemblyman Clarence Norman was indicted for falsifying business records for the purpose of concealing election contributions (in addition to other crimes). He was sentenced to 2-6 years.
In 2011, John Dote, Independence Party Chair, was charged with first-degree falsifying business records, which encompassed the filing of false financial reports with the Board of Elections with the intent to conceal his ongoing larcenies (+ other crimes). He was sentenced to 6 mos + 3 years probation.
In 2018, Richard Luthmann was arraigned on a 17-count indictment accusing him of multiple felony charges of falsifying business records and identity theft, where he impersonated several candidates online, both Dems and Reps, in an attempt to influence elections. He was sentenced to time served for other crimes and two years probation.

• tried outside the proper jurisdiction
• tried in a deliberately hostile jurisdiction
• copied and pasted so as to artificially inflate the charges
• the testimony of an admitted larcenous serial perjurer
• a presiding judge with multiple conflicts of interest
• a presiding judge barring exculpatory testimony for the defense
• jury instructions from the judge contrary to established case law and the constitution
• members of the existing DOJ being reassigned to state offices to harass, bankrupt, and jail political opposition.
