A large group of pro-Israel counter-protesters rushed to demonstrate outside a synagogue and Jewish school targeted Thursday in Los Angeles by a mob of pro-Palestinian activists.
The confrontation began earlier Thursday, when the pro-Palestinian activists showed up at the school in Valley Village, an area with a large Jewish population in the San Fernando Valley region of L.A.
A large group of pro-Israel counter-demonstrators then came to the school to face off against the pro-Palestinian activists. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) arrived and separated the two groups on opposite sides of the street.

I have nothing against the 10 Commandments, just that they should not be taught in our public schools. I don’t believe any religions should be taught in public schools. More reading, writing, math, science, composition, history, civics, Constitution, health and plenty of recess!!
In Deuteronomy Chapter 5, the Commandments start on verse 6. From verse 6 through 14 they are commanded to believe, follow and worship GOD. Verse 15 is honor thy father and mother, which is great advice, Verse 16 forbids murder, adultery, stealing and lying and Verse 17 forbids coveting your neighbors’ wife and stuff.
Do you believe it proper for the United States or State or Local governments to command children who and how to worship? I don’t. As Mr Dana pointed out we have laws against murder, stealing and some lying (e.g., perjury) and used to forbid adultery. Not coveting is good advice but at odds with our capitalist economy and advertising.

BTW, religion can and is discussed in public schools, as part of history, social studies and history. He discussed the history of Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Hinduism, Jainism, Confucianism, Taoism, Shinto, Sikhism, Baha’i, and on and on.
