The Donald Pledges To End EV Mandate On Day One

Yeah, well, we’ll see. He pledged to end U.S. involvement in the Paris Climate Agreement, but, it took him till November of 2020 to make that happen

Trump Vows to End Electric Vehicle ‘Mandate’ on Day One

Electric vehicleFormer President Donald Trump used his nomination speech to take aim at President Joe Biden’s electric vehicle policies, vowing to action against them on his first day in office.

“I will end the electric vehicle mandate on day one,” Trump said in his address at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. The move would result in “saving the US auto industry from complete obliteration, which is happening right now, and saving US customers thousands and thousands of dollars per car,” he said.

While the Biden administration doesn’t have a mandate on electric vehicles, critics of new air-pollution limits issued by the Environmental Protection Agency in March have said they would illegally force automakers to sell EVs.

Trump has repeatedly vowed to repeal what he calls Biden’s “EV mandate,” referring to a new EPA regulation limiting tailpipe pollution that is so strict it would compel automakers to sell far more electric and hybrid models over time.

While it is not technically a mandate, the regulations from the EPA mean that automakers really do need to really focus on manufacturing EVs and selling them. I personally have zero problem with the government offering tax breaks for citizens purchasing them (though, of course, the majority who take advantage are making between $100K to $300K.) If people want to buy one, buy one. The government should not be enforcing standards that force citizens into one when they do not want one, and when the people who are forcing this on the peasants usually aren’t driving one themselves.

More Gas Cars and Trucks, Fewer E.V.s as Automakers Change Plans
Ford, General Motors and other automakers are slowing investments in electric vehicles and doubling down on more profitable gasoline cars and trucks.

For much of the last five years, automakers have been spending billions of dollars in a frantic race to develop electric vehicles and build factories to produce them, with expectations that consumers would flock to these new models.

But in the past 12 months, the growth rate of electric vehicle sales has slowed sharply as some car buyers have balked at the high prices of electric cars and trucks and the hassles of charging them, especially on long trips.

The shift in consumer sentiment is now forcing many automakers to pull back on aggressive investment plans, and pivot, at least partly, back to the internal-combustion engine vehicles that still account for most new car sales and a large share of corporate profits.

They might finally be listening to the people who actually buy vehicles rather than the government.

Anyhow, we’ll see what Trump does on day one. Which, of course, would end with lots of lawsuits as Warmists (who mostly do not drive EVs) says that he didn’t go through the rule-making process.

President Trump can do as he pleases on Day 1. He will be a dictator.

On day one Adolf Biden instituted 17 executive orders among those were: require masks on federal property, rejoin the World Health Organization, set up a COVID office that reports directly to Biden, extend foreclosures and eviction moratoriums, free student debt collection, rejoin the Paris climate accords, revoke the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline and cancel all other trump administration energy rules, next the 1776 Commission, undo Trump’s changes to the census so the Democrats could continue to use the representative representation of illegals in their voting, increase legal protection for dreamers, abolish the Muslim ban, cancel all of trump administrations interior enforcement rule, open construction of the US Mexico border wall and defund regulation, extend deportation protection for Liberians, ban workplace discrimination against LGBT employees, implement an ethics pledge for all executive branch officials, freeze all Trump’s regulations which had not yet taken effect

Before you start calling other people dictators you better wipe out the dictators in your own ranks.

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

President Biden was revoking and repealing many of the previous dictator’s EOs.

Adolf Trump is working to INCREASE the executive authority of the next president. You support him in that because you agree with his beliefs.

The electric vehicle mandate was put in place by the dummkopf from Delaware without it being passed by Congress. What one President can do by executive authority, another can undo by executive authority.

  2. ruralcounsel says:

If America wants to go EVs, let the marketplace decide. Consumers will decide what works best for them. The government should keep its nose out of it and quit pushing one way or the other.

  3. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Liberals do not believe in unfettered capitalism. The Invisible Hand often has a thumb on the scale.

No one pays their taxes voluntarily! Let the people decide if they want to pay!

No one wants to pay for a catalytic converter. Big gubmint won’t even let you buy a new car without one!!

No one wants to pay for air bags.

Mufflers? Anti-lock brakes? Safety glass? Motorcycle helmets?

The Dem/Coms regulate cribs, toasters, strollers, baby powder, formula, milk, bike helmets, lamps, umbrellas, chairs, medicine, mowers, cell phones, sleeping bags, face masks, drinking water, airlines, sewers, plumbing, business bookkeeping, electricity, etc… they regulate everything in the name of safety!! And of course, our tort system permits those harmed by defective materials or devices to be compensated by the offending party.

The US makes nationwide regs forcing American residents to buy things they don’t like or want!!

President Trump and VP Vance could start eliminating regs from day 1 by firing all thousands of civil servants of NHTSA, TSA, EEOC, EPA, NASA, NOAA, FDA, USDA, FTC, NRC, FDIC, FCC, GSA, US Archives, NLRB, DOE, SEC, NIH, CDC, Treasury, DHS, FBI, Commerce, The Fed, State, CIA, Defense, etc, etc and replacing them with MAGA loyalists. Some of the agencies will be dissolved… NOAA, Education, Energy…

To help President Trump, the 2025 Project has outlined how to accomplish this.

that’s not what we’re talking about. What we’re talking about are agencies and the bureaucrats at those agencies making rules that have the force of LAW. The 2025 project is an idea on how to tamp down the awesome and frequently misused power of the federal government. It’s meant to be a starting point not the finish line. But of course rather than sitting there and trying to find out areas where we can agree you immediately discount the entire document and go along your little way like you usually do stubborn stupid and blind. That’s why your political party is in a mess it’s in right now you’re all stubborn stupid and blind. You spent the last five years lying to the people about a semi lucid senile old fart when you knew the man was incapable of fulfilling the duties of president.

The Republican Party right now is unified and we want to lead America into a future of success. We are not interested in jamming EV’s down people’s throats or any other cockamamie ideas that the minutes are freedom empty our pocketbooks and make millionaires and billionaires out of Democrat bundlers. That’s not the job of our government. The sooner the left realizes that we’re not here to hurt the country we’re here to keep the government on the track laid out by our constitution. We know you see all kinds of problems they need the addressing of the federal government because local people can’t possibly fix it just like you’re still screaming about abortion. Abortion was settled it goes to the states. But that’s not good enough for you if all the states don’t go bow to your desires there’s a problem. If the people of Nevada for example don’t want abortion you find that to be a problem. Unless you live in Nevada I find it to be none of your fuking business. By the way that’s also what the Founding Fathers thought. That’s the object of federalism.

All of those regulations you listed in the comment above may or may not be legitimate laws passed by the federal government. I don’t know, and I’m not bothering to look them all up. You do this crap all the time you list all kinds of stuff and you expect us to go research it. It’s not happening. From now on in when you do that kind of rambling I’m going to assume it’s all lies just like when the democrat/nazi party rambles it’s all lies.

We just want equal justice for everybody under the law we’ve always wanted that even way back when we were fighting you slavers about the freedom of the people you owned. We just wanted equal justice. Not equal outcome, equal justice. We don’t wanna be afraid to say anything cause we’ll lose our job or we’ll get doxxed or will have the FBI banging on our door at 4:00 in the morning. We want the same freedoms that we figure you want. And by the way we don’t claim that Americans shouldn’t have AR-15’s while we own a couple of them ourselves. That just proves what a hypocrite you are. Then again you’re a demo Nazi so you should be a hypocrite it’s in your DNA. You run around talking about freedom why you try and snatch it from everybody else that disagrees with you.

I do have a problem with it. Why should the government be taxing all Americans to push some people to buy a particular product, any particular product?

    • unklc says:

I also have a problem with taxing those who actually pay taxes to provide a targeted benefit to some. I disagree with subsidies as well.
As Ruralcounsel stated; ‘Let the market decide’. If EV’s are commercially viable, customers will buy them.
