Ukraine Finally Gets Its F-16s

The war between Ukraine and Russia has just been going on and on and on, and Biden promised Ukraine F-16s back in May of 2023

Report: Ukraine receives first batch of U.S.-made F-16 fighter jets

Ukraine has received its first batch of long-awaited American-made F-16 fighter jets that will help the country fight back against Russia’s superior air power, according to news reports.

A top advisor to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Mykhailo Podolyak, said he would neither confirm nor deny Ukraine had received the F-16s. Other Ukrainian officials were similarly tight-lipped.

However, Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said on X, quote, “F-16s in Ukraine. Another impossible thing turned out to be totally possible.”

Four European members of NATO – the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium and Norway – have publicly pledged to send the war planes to Ukraine, starting this summer.

Which NATO member sent them?? No one knows. No one knows if they will actually make a difference in war in which drones take down helicopters.

Many military analysts say they believe the F-16s will help Ukraine, but they are not expected to result in a major change in the trajectory of the war. They also say they think Ukraine will use the warplanes primarily to counter Russian air attacks.

They note that Russia has strong air defenses and the F-16s will be vulnerable when carrying out offensive operations.

Russia has over 1,000 jets. How many will Ukraine get, and, will they make any difference? And, a big concern is that Ukraine uses them to strike deep into Russia.

US Aid is Flowing to Ukraine Again. Can It Turn the Tide of the War?

The best way to describe Ukrainian morale right now is that it is flickering.

It’s flickering on the front lines, with exhausted troops bearing the brunt of more than two years of war with minimal breaks. And it’s flickering on the homefront, because the living situation in the country is deteriorating. Power outages triggered by Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure cause lights to blink on and off daily, a visual reminder of the stalemated war.

The two are interconnected: After all, the homefront contains the pool of men who are needed for another mobilization. The only way for Ukraine to change the situation on the battlefield is to relieve the bone-tired soldiers on the front lines who have been fighting for years and mobilize tens of thousands — even hundreds of thousands — of new, able-bodied recruits to continue the country’s defense.

Fortunately for Ukraine, the arrival of more aid and ammunition, paid in large part by the $61 billion military aid package passed by Congress earlier this year, is already making a difference on both fronts.

Will it make a difference? Probably not. It really hasn’t made much of difference the numerous times America and other NATO nations gave Ukraine money and arms. Heck, how much of that money will simply end up as graft to politicians and Ukrainian oligarchs? The best solution would be for Russia to leave Ukraine, but, will that actually happen? What are the chances? Meanwhile, this war just keeps dragging on and wasting American taxpayer money for really no gain. How long will Ukrainians stand for continuing the war? Men are bolting the country to avoid being drafted. People in the western part are partying and living their lives. It’s a war of attrition, one where Russia isn’t trying to destroy everything, as they want the nation intact as much as possible.

Maybe Trump can wield is power over Putin and persuade him to end the Russian offensive in Ukraine.

Whatever the problem, whatever the question, Trump must be the answer to those with no imagination.

If trump were president there wouldn’t even be a Russo Ukrainian war.

ED, thanks for yet another reason to vote Trump. Someone’s gotta clean up Joey’s messes.

It is increasingly looking like NATO countries are giving F-16s to the Ukraine because it is cheaper than scrapping them in their own countries where modern environmental laws would make such a task enormously expensive. NATO countries want to get rid of older model fighters to make room in their budgets for newer jets like the F-35. The F-16s on their books keep using up ramp space, fuel and spare parts to maintain. Similarly, giving old ammunition, rockets and missiles to Ukraine allows NATO countries to “expend” those older munitions that they no longer want without costly and environmentally unfriendly de-milling processes. NATO countries are saving billions by letting the Ukrainians absorb the environmental contamination on their own soil.

… the arrival of more aid and ammunition, paid in large part by the $61 billion military aid package passed by Congress earlier this year, is already making a difference on both fronts.

They must be watching a different war than I am. From my sources, Ukraine is losing ground on every front and they are losing it faster than previously in the war.

…exhausted troops bearing the brunt of more than two years of war with minimal breaks.

Not exactly true. Most of the troops from 2023 are enjoying a very long rest, in graves all over Ukraine. The troops today on the front lines are spread thin and don’t have many troops who have been serving since the beginning. The longest serving troops are in the special brigades of the core army that have never been to the front since they are made up of politically loyal people. They stay close to Kiev to protect the Zelenskyy government from being overthrown.

…of new, able-bodied recruits to continue the country’s defense.

Ukrainians are getting tired of this too. They are starting to fight back against “recruiting” teams. “Recruiters” now use police escorts when going into the countryside to kidnap eligible men. Recruiter vehicles have been seen burning on the streets. Ukraine may be nearing a breaking point where civil war is possible. Calling them “recruits” hides the nature of them being compelled by force to serve on the front lines with only a few weeks of training. They are nothing more than slave gladiators fighting for the honor of the Zelenskyy government and to cover up Biden’s crimes in the area.

What’s the matter with Russia? They should have been able to conquer Ukraine in weeks, even without the support of the US Trumpublican Party.

Russia is hanging on in hopes of Trump 2.0. If Trump loses, Putin will be under extreme pressure to negotiate a peace. Regardless, after the election the war will end.

What crimes did President Biden commit in Ukraine? Please use evidence.

  4. Dana says:

It doesn’t matter: Ukraine cannot defeat Russia without US/NATO troops on the ground directly fighting the Soviets Russians, and that’s World War III.

Thus far, the Ukes have managed to create a stalemate, but that’s all. More and more Ukes are dying, in a war they can’t win, dying for ground neither side can take from the other. Modern weapons, sure enough, but it looks like the Western front in 1916.

  5. Professor Hale says:

… dying for ground neither side can take from the other.

The Russians are indeed taking quite a bit of it. But Russian goals were the demilitarization of Ukraine and they are achieving that by destroying the entire Ukrainian armed forces. Sadly, the Ukrainians don’t have a goal of survival.

Since the NATO countries are saying Ukrainian membership is inevitable, Putin has no choice but to take the whole thing to prevent that. Someone like Trump could take that off the table by vetoing it and that would give Russia an opening to declare peace now. Ukrainian soldier know that if Trump gets elected, the war ends. No one wants to be that guy who dies needlessly in a war that was going to end anyway in a few months.

If Biden were smart, he could pre-empt a Trump peace plan by getting there first, but since it was his government stonewalling peace in the first place, the Russians would consider him negotiating in bad faith. The Biden administration has a LOT of blood on their hands. Good thing for them they don’t believe in God and His justice.

  6. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Ukraine was not a threat to Russia, so why would Trumputin fear them?

Nope, the Russets want to rebuild their Union and grossly miscalculated.

Ironically, the war is being prolonged because of Mumbles Trump. Putin’s hope is that Mumbles wins and hands over Ukraine. If Vice President Harris wins, Putin and Zelenskyy will negotiate a peace.

What makes anyone believe that the Russets deserve to dictate the world order? Anyway, treaties mean nothing to men such as Putin and Trump. Recall that Ukraine gave up their nukes in exchange for Russia or the US promising not to invade them!

More fairy tales courtesy of Rimjob, the guy who ignores evidence of Biden’s pay-for-play collusion with Zelensky. https://www.thepiratescove.us/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_bye.gif

The foreign policy expert from St Louis wrote:

Ukraine was not a threat to Russia, so why would Trumputin fear them?

Nope, the Russets want to rebuild their Union and grossly miscalculated.

While Vladimir Vladimirovich has said that the worst mistake Russia ever made was allowing the dissolution of the USSR, what the Russkies really do not want is NATO directly against their borders; the Russians love them some buffer states. The Soviets loved having the Warsaw Pact nations as buffers against an invasion from the West, something they directly faced when the Third Reich was directly against their forces in World War II.

Ukraine’s neutrality was something they valued, until Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his predecessor, Petro Poroshenko, started making noises about joining NATO, something his predecessor, Viktor Yanukovych, had rejected.

Perhaps our sage from St Louis will reject that Russian fear as complete paranoia, but that doesn’t matter: it still exists. President Putin grew up and was formed under the Soviet Union, under the Russian Communist education system, and he knows of the Western efforts, including some invading forces, which tried to overthrow the Bolsheviks following their coup d’etat in 1917, and their support of the ‘whites’ against the ‘reds’ during the civil war years of 1918-1922. He understands the history of the German invasion of 1941, and that Adolf Hitler was a fervent anti-Communist. He knows the history of NATO, an alliance formed specifically against the USSR.

It really is strange, when you think about it. Our friends on the left are oh-so-multicultural in their philosophy, yet their thinking is so narrow-minded that they cannot wrap their pointy little heads around the notion that people who are not Western liberals might not think the way Westerners think. That’s how we get Queers for Palestine and liberal white women being so supportive of cultures which would happily enslave, imprison, or kill them if those cultures ever took control.
