Nothing to see here, patriots. Cole Gray, 14, killed two students and two teachers (wounded 9 others) with an AR-15 style rifle at his high school in Georgia. It’s unclear how or where Gray secured the rifle.
Gun grabbers were quick to pounce, calling for banning the AR-15 style rifles, not understanding that these semi-autos made for hunting humans, are just like a .22, instead of being the weapon of choice for mass murder!

Yes, the authorities should have taken the guns from the house. The police DID just charge the father with 2nd degree murder – perhaps other parents will will keep their AR-15s out of the hands of their crazy kids. Maybe they don’t care for their own children or the the others, but maybe 10-20 years in prison will serve as a deterrent.
So why ban assault weapons? Because they are used for most mass shootings, especially at schools, malls, theaters, groceries, Wal-Marts, parks, parades. I know a young man who at 13 took two of his father’s pistol to his middle school and shot a studient and teacher. Fortunately, both victims survived. The shooter was in juvenile detention for 6 years, receiving therapy. That state couldn’t charge him as an adult.

Because they ARE AR-15 style rifles. There are dozens manufacturers who follow the same pattern. You know this. Semi-auto, 5.56 NATO round, light weight, short, pistol grip, baffled barrel (reduces overheating). Colt still owns the trademark, AR-15, so other manufacturers cannot use this term. We get it. It makes some feel as if they’re an Army man.
You are correct, that mass killers will use less lethal semi-auto pistols, which are now the tool of choice for murderous gang bangers. Why does every military on Earth prefer the AR-15 platform for their infantry firearm instead of the reliable M1 Garand? The AR-15 platform is better.
Gun nuts “argue” they need AR-15 type weapons to block unconditional compliance with unfair government oppression! Every advanced nation of Earth has tighter firearms restrictions than the US – Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark… Israel… Switzerland. And the US leads by far in mass killings! My point was that although a shooter may use a another weapon the juice to get the ban is always using the terms “AR-15 or AR-15 Type/Style” for any non-shotgun rifle. It’s misleading. Also, just because a weapon is based on the AR platform does not make it an AR but for the anti semi-auto public it does not matter. All will be banned. You’ll be lucky if lever actions survive.

You are wrong. The AR-15 platform (“sanitized” as Modern Sporting Rifle by the industry) is pretty specific. My bolt action Remington 700s hold 4 rounds, each spent casing ejected with re-racking the bolt. They are heavy, long rifles designed for game hunting. The recoil from the 30-06, 7mm-08 or 7mm Mag make a rapid follow-shot a challenge. I’m ready to buy a .243 for my grandson’s use (lower recoil). We’re not trying to shoot 20 deer at a time like a mass shooter in a grade school. I have a couple of collectible but still shootable 30-30 lever action Winchesters which can hold 8 rounds (only 4 allowable when hunting). Still good deer rifles. Even a double barrel shotgun! A lovely Colt Police Positive Special .38 6 shooter. My grown kids have a few more! And my friends in the country – OMG, what arsenals they have. But no Modern Sporting Rifles. One friend always carries a sidearm when he’s walking his farm to ward off timber rattlers and Yahoos (Ozark brush apes).
I have a couple of semi-auto Remington 1100 shotguns which again hold 4 shells. And heavy… boy howdy! And a Remington Model 870 pump. What a beauty! They can do a lot of damage but mass murderers still prefer Modern Sporting Rifles for their large magazines, low recoil, flash suppressors, light weight, short barrels, not overheating, rapid reload – it’s why both the military and mass murders love them!
When Mr Teach repeats his misleading comparison between a Modern Sporting Rifle and a wooden stocked .223 semi-auto hunting rifle he’s pulling your leg. The hunting rifles are typically heavier, longer, 4 or 5 round magazine – all reasons for someone hunting schoolkids to avoid it. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, stop and reload, 1,2,3,4,5, rinse and repeat.
