Fish Wrap Wonders When Climate Homicide Charges Are Coming

There was, believe it or not, a time when the NY Times was the most respected newspaper in the country, and one of the most respected in the world. Now? We get this insanity

It’s real

Lawsuits against fossil fuel companies over climate change are piling up. Legislators and activists are pushing prosecutors to pursue criminal charges. Children are suing governments, arguing that their right to a healthy environment is being trampled on.

Welcome to the new universe of climate litigation, where the courts have become one of the most important battlegrounds in the fight over the greenhouse gas emissions warming the planet.

Of course, most of those who are suing are themselves using vast amounts of petroleum. Anyhow, lots of blah blah blah till

There are growing calls for prosecutors to consider criminal charges related to climate change.

This year, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island and Representative Jamie Raskin of Maryland, both Democrats, called on Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate oil companies for what they called a “decades-long disinformation campaign” about the effects of fossil fuels.

In a recent paper in The Harvard Environmental Law Review, David Arkush, of the advocacy group Public Citizen, and Donald Braman, a law professor at George Washington University, argued that in the United States, fossil fuel companies could be charged with types of homicide short of first-degree murder based on claims of deception about climate change.

Dowd posted this in another article.

Out of the 10s of millions of votes cast across America, several thousand voters in “swing” states Michigan and Pennsylvania often determine the President. In 2016, some 6 million Pennsylvanians voted with Mr Trump winning by 44 thousand. In Michigan, 4.5 million Michiganders voted and Mr Trump won by 11 thousand. Out of 129 million votes, Trump won by under 60,000 votes!

Oh the horror. Trump won by under 60k votes, according to DOWD.

However, in 2020. FROM NPR, a decided Biden, DNC RAH RAH SUPPORTING PUBLIC TRUST:

The tight races in the trio of states had a big electoral impact. As NPR’s Domenico Montanaro has put it, “Just 44,000 votes in Georgia, Arizona, and Wisconsin separated Biden and Trump from a tie in the Electoral College.”

Of course, Trump is no stranger to narrow victories. He won the 2016 election thanks to just under 80,000 combined votes in three of those six key states.

People seem to think Biden Crushed Trump in 2020. He did not.

Yes, Biden won the popular vote. In highly populated blue states, that drastically increases the vote totals for Democrats. But for the other 44-45 states, we want to be represented in our own country.

No thanks to the popular vote. We do not want to be run by California, Florida, Texas, Illinois, New York and New Jersey.

Yes. The US should be “run” by a few thousand rural folks. People are people.

Effectivley what the “electors” system does is to lessen the value of some voter’s votes!

Get rid of the “electors” system and just declare that votes from NY, CA, NJ, MA, IL only count as 3/5th of a vote.

The best example of lawfare right there.
And they want to rant about misinformation?

  3. Elwood P. Dowd says:

The New York Times article is an example of “reporting”. The headline writer needs a new job.

Climate Lawsuits Are Exploding. Are Homicide Charges Next?

Mr Teach should applaud the Times for their work, if not their headline.

They cited a single article, <a href="“>CLIMATE HOMICIDE: PROSECUTING BIG OIL FOR
    CLIMATE DEATHS,
so there hardly seems to be a groundswell. Read it if you have a free afternoon and a panchant for boredom.

Understand that Mr Teach denies that miniscule increases in CO2 emissions have a significant effect on the miniscule “1.6F” inrease in temperature.

  4. CT Ginger says:

This is why they want to normalize laws against “misinformation”. If they can claim that reasonable questions about climastrology are misinformation they can cease the discussion and run roughshod over reason.

  5. Jl says:

Oh, my-“homicide charges…”. Show us the bodies, thanks!
