If they were going to remake something, how about the horrible Dark Tower? Hollywood is kinda out of ideas
Netflix horror master moving to Amazon for new classic Stephen King adaptation
Popular horror filmmaker Mike Flanagan, best known for his creation of several thrilling Netflix mini dramas and movies, has reportedly inked a deal with Amazon to adapt an eight-episode series based on a Stephen King classic.
Flanagan previously directed a handful of hit Netflix shows, including The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor, as well as Warner Bros’ 2019 horror fantasy Doctor Sleep, based on King’s 2013 novel. Now, he’s once again teaming up with the prolific horror author to adapt King’s 1974 classic novel, Carrie, according to Deadline.
I found Hill House tedious and boring, and didn’t make it far, but, regardless, Carrie has already been made twice. The first was awesome, the second in 2013 was OK. Why do we need it a 3rd time? How much Woke or idiocy will be in it?
Chucky 3 director Jack Bender is currently directing an adaptation of King’s 2019 book, The Institute, and Edgar Wright is helming a new iteration of 1982’s The Running Man. Meanwhile, Francis Lawrence is working with Lionsgate on The Long Walk, which was released in 1979 under King’s pseudonym, Richard Bachman.
Well, maybe if the Running Man is closer to the book. The Long Walk? Not sure, that is a seriously dark story. Just like one expected from early Stephen King. They could do a newer Dead Zone. Insomnia has never been done. They could do Under The Dome according to the book, rather than the horrible two season show. Couldn’t get by season 1. They could make movies or TV episodes out of his collection books Night Shift, Different Seasons, and Skeleton Crew, like has been done with some.. Sun Dog would be good from Four Past Midnight. You’d probably be shocked how many movies have been made from his books and short stories.
King has previously vocalized his dislike of Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 adaptation of The Shining, once describing it as “a big, beautiful Cadillac with no engine inside it.”
He also slammed the director’s portrayal of Wendy – played by the late Shelley Duvall, opposite Jack Nicholson’s Jack Torrence – as “one of the most misogynistic characters ever put on film.”
Do one that mirrors the book. Seriously, though, there are tons of books in scifi and horror I could recommend be turned into movies and miniseries. Many of them would do gangbusters on the big screen. And some thrillers. The Jack Sigler series by Jeremy Robinson would be great. David Achord’s Thomas Ironcutter mystery series is awesome. Something lighthearted? Mango Bob. Most of Greig Beck’s stuff would work well. I could keep going.
Anyhow, I’m seeing more interesting stuff coming from European nations and Australia than Hollywood. Sure, there is some stuff. But, there used to be tons. Go back and look at October 2004, 1994, 1984, etc. There were so many more good films being released.
Look how many times they re-made “freaky friday” and all the variations of “Ferngully/pocahontas/Avatar/Dances with Wolves. There really is nothing new.
Check out IF (Imaginary Friends) a children’s fantasy.
And Snack Shack a coming-of-age story set in 1981 Nebraska.
Both well done and interesting films.
Amazon already butchered Wheel of Time and Lord of the Rings. King is either just cashing out before he dies or doesn’t know what Amazon is going to do to his stories.
The movie of The Shining sucked compared to the book. The locus of the book was young Danny’s psychic abilities, “the shining”, in understanding the evil of the hotel. Also important was the psychic conecction between Danny and the hotel chef, Dick. It’s difficult to make an action movie around the concepts of mind reading and other psychic abilities. And Jack Nicholson played the father as an over the top psychopath.
Movie versions of The Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption, Stand by Me, Misery, The Running Man, Carrie (1976) are outstanding and/or highly entertaining (Running Man).
I’d like to see someone do some of Vince Flynn’s “Mitch Rapp” series. Too much islamophilia in Hollywood, I suppose.
Trump, 78, has been pulling out of media appearances throughout October. That’s included him backing out of interviews with the Shade Room, 60 minutes, NBC, CNBC, and cutting a town hall event short. An adviser on Trump’s team reportedly told POLITICO last week that the cancellations were because Trump’s schedule has been so packed it’s led to “exhaustion.”
NO, Trump was told by the USSS that they could not protect him at many of his scheduled events. He is the energizer bunny.
Now you know the rest of the Truth about why Trump has suddenly canceled events. As for 60 Minutes, NBC, and CNBC, everyone knows that it is like going to China and being grilled behind closed doors.
He will come out of those interviews edited into a demented lunatic, and 90 percent of what he says is taken out of context. He would be crazy to take those interviews.
Why does Kamala not take a Tim Pool, the Quarterling, Dr. Steve Turley, Ben Shapiro, Charlie Kirk, or The BLAZE interviews? How about OAN or Newsmax interviews? Washington Post?
Hell, how come she doesn’t campaign at all? My 96-year-old mother was the energizer bunny with a sharp mind until Shingles gave her encephalitis and put her in the ICU and a nursing home rehab untit for nearly 5 months.
