159 Democrats Voted Against Laken Riley Act

A bit of a follow up, forgot to hit post on this Tuesday

(Daily Caller) 159 House Democrats voted Tuesday against legislation titled the Laken Riley Act that would require federal immigration authorities to detain illegal migrants who commit theft-related crimes in the U.S and would also allow states to sue the Department of Homeland Security for harm caused to their residents because of illegal immigration. (snip)

“Laken Riley was brutally murdered by an illegal alien that President Biden and the Democrats let into this country with their open border policy. It is hard to believe after countless horrific stories like Laken’s, ANY House Democrats would vote against deporting illegal aliens who commit violent crimes against American citizens,” Speaker of the House Mike Johnson said in a statement.

“But 159 just did, demonstrating some Democrats have ignored the loud and clear message from voters in this election who demanded secure borders, the deportation of violent illegal aliens, and laws that put the safety and security of the American people first,” Johnson added.

These Democrats are prioritizing illegal aliens and fake asylum seekers over U.S. citizens. How many Democrat Senators will vote against it?

Ross is my Rep. You also had North Carolina reps Alma Adams and Valarie Foushee, both Democrats, voting against. Donald Davis (D) voted for the legislation. Calls and emails to Ross’ office have gone unanswered. They do not care about you.

The House vote was 264 to 159, with 48 Democrats voting with Republicans in support. When the legislation passed the chamber in the last session Congress, 37 Democrats voted with Republicans.

At least 48 Democrats this time around voted For the act.

There are 53 Repubs in the Senate and at least 3 Democrats are yes votes for the bill and there is a lot of pressure on them to vote yes for a bill that is designed to get rid of CRIMINAL ILLEGALS. Of course this bill screams lack of due process to NON CITIZENS who broke the law to come here Illegally. So that is why there is 48 dems in the house voting yes and as many as 7 or 8 Dems senators might vote yes as well.

Rape and murder of American citizens by downright evil people from other countries here illegally is not a Democrat or Republican thing. It is an American thing that puts Americans first. The Democrats can still get elected if they throw out these criminals because I promise the Democrats these people will never be citizens and certainly never vote….let alone vote for a Democrat.

And when Marco Rubio was against deporting 11 million illegals, that was a dozen years ago. There are now 23 million illegals or more in this country and that is becoming a great issue of our times and given the Hispanic citizens of America are vastly opposed to illegal immigration because these illegals compete directly with THEM for jobs and move into their neighborhoods with their drugs and violence. One can easily see how the Dems lost the Hispanic vote in 2024.

Wake up dems. Vote yes on Lincoln Riley.

Yes, we want the bill passed, and yes, there could be some small amendments to it, but we don’t want it passed and sent to the President until after January 20th, because we know that the Democrat from Delaware would veto it.

True. We don’t need another pointless show vote. The election is already over. Pass bills that matter.

…bill screams lack of due process to NON CITIZENS…

Depends on what you think due process is. No foreign national has a right to emigrate to the USA. The due process clause of the constitution says that no person shall be denied life liberty or property without due process. Thus, any procedure passed by congress thus becomes the due process. Plus, sending someone home to their own country does not arguably deny them of life liberty or property. Expelling foreigners to their homes is an administrative, not a legal or punitive process. Courts have already held that no foreign national has a right to remain in the USA, thus expelling them is not a violation of due process, even if the procedure is something short and sweet like a ride to the border in the back of a cattle car and pushed over the fence at the point of a bayonet.

A ‘show’ bill by Republicuns. Politicking all the time. Two more years worth.

They know their base and don’t want to upset them…

  6. Doom and Gloom says:

Due Process is one of the main reasons given for voting NO on this bill by Democrats.

It is not my talking point. It is the talking point of the left, that these illegal thugs are not given DUE process.

As for Trump and the GOP. One thing that has shaken both parties is the fact that the voters actually EXPECT this time around for their elected officials to do the things they promised.

They promised to curb illegal immigration, build a wall, no more wars, stop the fighting in Ukraine…etc…etc. This is not a show bill. It was passed last year and sat on Shurmurs desk until now because he was afraid that it would actually pass if he brought it up for a vote.
