Wackjob Warmists Attack Charles Darwin’s Grave

I remember earlier this century when all the far left were all about Darwinism because of George Bush being heavily Christian, as well as the discussion of Intelligent Design. They screeched that Charles Darwin’s Theory Of Evolution was the only answer. But, somewhere along the way we ended up with

Here we go

Arrests after Charles Darwin grave spray-painted

Two women have been arrested after climate protesters spray-painted over the grave of Charles Darwin inside Westminster Abbey.

Climate protest group Just Stop Oil (JSO) said two activists used chalk paint on the grave of the famous naturalist, who is best known for his theories on evolution. (snip)

Alyson Lee, 66, a retired teaching assistant from Derby, and Di Bligh, a 77-year-old former chief executive of Reading Council, from Rode, were involved in the action, JSO said. (snip)

Ms Lee told the PA news agency: “We are trying to get the government to act on climate change. They are not doing enough.”

The other activist, Ms Bligh, said: “We’ve done this because there’s no hope for the world, really.

“We’ve done it on Darwin’s grave specifically because he would be turning in that grave because of the sixth mass extinction taking place now.”

Ms Lee added: “I believe he would approve because he was a good scientist and he would be following the science, and he would be as upset as us with the government for ignoring the science.”

We could debate whether Darwinism is good science, because, remember, it is a theory, a hypothesis, not a scientific Law. Regardless, might Darwin have looked at these wackos and said “Earth has always seen the weather and climate fluctuate. That’s part of what creates natural selection!”

This particular group seems to be on the far fringe of being able to connect their methods to their goals. I’m not seeing how what they do will ever lead to what they want. Perhaps they could donate their pensions to scientific advancement, which might lead to actual climate control, replacement of carbon-based fuels or in some other way making life on this Earth better for others instead of just being a general nuisance.

“Sixth mass extinction taking place…” Where?

Jl asks of the Sixth Extinction, “Where?”

Here, on Earth. It’s also known as the ‘Holocene Extinction’. Certainly a trained scientist such as you has heard of it.

Our analysis shows that two orders, 10 families, and 73 genera of tetrapods (i.e., mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians) have gone EX since 1500, representing a major loss of branches of the tree of life.

The actual generic current extinction rates are, however, much higher than the background ones. Instead of losing the expected two vertebrate genera in 500 y (i.e., between 1500 to 2022), at least 73 genera became extinct in that period, indicating that the observed extinction ratio is 35 times higher than the background rate prevailing over the last few million years

It’s early days in the Holocene extinction. Only those most optimistic would conclude that human effects on the existence of plants and animals will slow down, even with the Chinese creating new virus species!!
