Did President Biden pardon Donnie? He should.
Actually, former President Biden — I just loved typing that! — did President Trump a huge favor. Under Burdick v United States, 236 US 79 (1915), a pardon “carried an imputation of guilt and acceptance of a confession of it.” By accepting the pardons, we can all claim that those pardoned are guilty and have confessed to their crimes, without the Department of Justice having to spend a couple of years trying to prove it in a court of law. The Dems were saying exactly that a couple of months ago about the prospective pardons of the Capitol kerfufflers.
More than that, by giving pardons to people the left were claiming were potential political prisoners, we can claim what I’ve been saying all along, that the Capitol kerfufflers have been political prisoners.
Former President Biden missed an opportunity here. He could have pardoned all of the kerfufflers not accused of violent crimes, the vast majority of them, and left it to Mr Trump to have to pardon those accused of more serious crimes. But, of course, all of this was arranged not by Mr Biden himself, but whichever staffers are shoving pieces of paper under his runny nose. Perhaps it was
