DOJ Says No More Money For Illegal Aliens In Texas

And you can bet this is going to be happening in all states soon enough

Department of Justice cuts off federally funded legal aid to detained immigrants

Well, if they want to represent illegal aliens they can do it on their one time and money. Why should the taxpayers of the U.S. have to pay for illegal aliens to get legal representation? Let them pay for it. Or the lawyers and groups if they so choose.

American Gateways, a subcontractor for the federal program and an immigrant rights advocacy group based in Austin, served 7,000 detained migrants in 2024 across three immigration detention centers in Texas. Edna Yang, co-executive director of American Gateways, said blocking detained immigrants from access to legal information will hurt the people and the system itself.

Why? Is this a private group? Let them get the money from Democrats who support illegals. The system is that none of these people should actually be in the U.S.

The decision to halt the program could prevent thousands of people detained in immigration detention centers from receiving legal advice.

Well, this article is super hard behind the paywall, but, a constant refresh says that the money is being pulled from all sorts of illegal alien supporting non-profits and NGOs. Again, let them pay themselves. They can solicit money others, but, not the taxpayers.

This is a good thing: reduce the lawfare available for the illegals to fight deportation.

After they’ve been deported, they can apply for legal immigration to the United States, at which point they can be screened and vetted, and we can tell which ones will be a productive credit to our country, and which we do not want.

… and we can tell which ones will be a productive credit to our country,

Hint: the answer is nearly none of them.

Those programs to provide legal aid to immigrants were really all about providing paychecks to leftist lawyers who otherwise could not make a living because they were at the bottom of their class and they specialized in gender and race issues (the easy courses). It’s about looting the treasury to pay off Democratic party activists. It’s always about the money.

        A good start.
NGOs should not be funded by the government.
        That’s why they’re designated as Non-Government Organizations.
        Duh!

My British Isle and Scandinavian ancestors have been in the US since the 1600s!! To be honest they were likely illegals. In the early 1700s, my great, great etc grandma, Mary, appeared to have taken up with a Lenape indian in what is now south NJ.

How long has Mr Dana’s family been “American”?
