FEMA Ends Migrant Housing Funding In SCNY

It’s long past time for the federal government to start spending taxpayer money on Americans, not illegals/fake asylum seekers

And then we have

FEMA halts migrant housing funds in NY after Musk’s criticism

The acting head of the federal agency responsible for responding to disasters said Monday that he’s suspending payments sent to New York City to house migrants and that staff who made them will be held accountable, after Elon Musk blasted the transactions on his social media platform.

Musk, who as head of the Department of Government Efficiency has consolidated control over much of the federal government and is working to cut costs and shrink the workforce, posted on X that his team “just discovered that FEMA sent $59M LAST WEEK to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants.” He said the money is intended for disaster relief and would be clawed back.

Cameron Hamilton, acting administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, reposted Musk’s comments and said the payments were suspended as of Sunday.

Musk gave no evidence to support his claim, and information from the city of New York indicated that money it’s received to care for migrants was appropriated by Congress and allocated to the city last year by FEMA.

No one is surprised that ABC News went there, right? They weren’t too interested in proof when it came to Russia interference. If they were a news organization they would ask for the proof. But, they want to protect the illegals, not American citizens. They even manage to work in a mention of Project 2025 near the end. Moonbats.

  1. Elwood P Dowd says:

twitter is not a credible reference.

Mr Teach’s left out the bulk of the abc article.

The money comes directly from Congress and is specifically for Customs and Border Protection — also part of the Department of Homeland Security. FEMA administers the payments.

The money is separate from the disaster relief fund, which is FEMA’s main funding stream to help people and governments affected by disasters.

The Shelter and Services Program has become a flashpoint for criticism by Republicans, who incorrectly claim it’s taking money from people hit by hurricanes or floods.

Teach either didn’t read this or chose to ignore, preferring to claim FEMA was ignoring North Carolinians.

    • fp says:

You sure are smart, principled, and virtuous to point out that the money is separate. Totally justifies FEMA using taxpayer dollars to put illegal aliens up in swanky hotels.

I’ve got my first check for a total of thirteen thousand US dollars. I am so energized, this is whenever I first really acquired something. I will work much harder now and I can hardly hang tight for the following week’s installment. Go to the Home tab for more detail.

The four people who were still at FEMA have been told to hit the unemployment line, but the question remains: who ordered these payments in the first place, and when were they ordered? The Biden political appointees are gone, so they can’t be fired for this.

Did the orders come from the Biden White House? Did the orders come before or after the election?

  3. Elwood P Dowd says:

Pope Francis took issue with recent Catholic convert, VP J.D. Vance, who outlined a framework for Chriistian caring. Vance defended the migrant crackdown by citing a concept from old Catholic theology known as “ordo amoris.” He said the concept delineates a hierarchy of care — to family first, followed by neighbor, community, fellow citizens and lastly those elsewhere.

    Said the Pontiff:

“Christian love is not a concentric expansion of interests that little by little extend to other persons and groups. The true ordo amoris that must be promoted is that which we discover by meditating constantly on the parable of the ‘Good Samaritan,’ that is, by meditating on the love that builds a fraternity open to all, without exception.”

In addition, the Vatican’s main charity Caritas International warned that millions of people could die as a result of the “ruthless” U.S. decision to “recklessly” stop USAID funding.

    • david7134 says:

      Jeff,
Your stupidity knows no end. Really? The Good Samaritan? Samaritan’s were the lower cast in the area and there were substantial racist implications that people today are not aware of. In addition, if you saved an individual, you owned them, which sounds ok, a return to slavery.

      • Professor Hale says:

Don’t expect Jeff to know much about the Bible or Christianity. The good Samaritan didn’t need to go to the other side of the planet to find people who needed help. The good Samaritan used his own money to help others, not robbing his neighbors to support his charity. The good Samaritan expected the man in his care to eventually get well and no longer need care. The Bible is full of useful lessons that are lost on militant atheists. Like a pearl is to swine.

        • Elwood P Dowd says:

Porter Hale objects to the Pope being quoted. America’s evangelical christians (catholics and prostitants) have lost their way and no longer consider Jesus their guiding light. You’ve invented a new religion.

      • Professor Hale says:

Maybe the Catholic Church (TM) should use some of the BILLIONS in profits from American tax dollars they made from importing migrants into the USA against the expressed wishes of their host nation citizens and their own parishioners.

      • Dana says:

What many people do not realize is that Nazareth, where Jesus grew up, was in Samaria, and was a majority Samaritan town. It was small, only about 400-500 people, and there were plenty of Jews there, but they were the minority.

We know that there were Jewish families in Nazareth because St Luke tells us that the Holy Family made the journey to Jerusalem every year for Passover, and that there were enough Jews from that region to organize a caravan for the 75 mile journey.

There had to be a fair amount of tolerance between Samaritans and Jews, despite the fact that in other places Jews did not speak to Samaritans (John 4:1-26), or a carpenter/construction worker would not have had enough work to survive.

      • Elwood P Dowd says:

Porter David’s stupidity knows no end. Do you believe you know more about religion than does the Pope?

The Jews looked down on the Samaritans (like you look down on Blacks, Hispanics and homosexuals). That is exactly why Jesus chose to make the hero of his parable a Samaritan and not the priest or Levite.

29 But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

30 In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii[c] and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’

36 “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”

    • Nearly unrestricted immigration rights has been a position of the Catholic Church for a long time now, longer than His Holiness Pope Francis has been in the Chair of St Peter. But it’s amusing that our secularist from St Louis tries to use the Bishop of Rome’s position on immigration, while being so steadfastly opposed to the Church’s position on deviant sex, transgenderism, and prenatal infanticide.

      • Elwood P Dowd says:

Back atcha! You steadfastly support the church’s position on homosexuals and abortion but not immigration.

Curiously, the Church is evolving on both homosexuality and transgenderism. It’s almost as if they’re liberalizing.

        • fp says:

And the more they evolve, the less they survive.

Survival of the fittest — i.e., evolution — does not countenance homosexuality and self-sterilization.

Should Congress approve more funds for the FAA so they can hire more Air Traffic Controllers?

    Same for NTSB?

The flurry of air accidents these past couple of weeks are likely just a coincidence, but if people lose confidence in the safety of air travel it’s a problem.

    • Jl says:

The shortage in air traffic controllers was mainly due to DEI hiring, where many qualified white applicants were refused because…they were white.

      • david7134 says:

Jeff supports racism in government and elsewhere.

      • Professor Hale says:

Jeff doesn’t know how hiring works for federal government employees. If the job has a vacancy, Congress already approved the money to pay the person who gets hired. The FAA has lots of vacancies.

        • Elwood P Dowd says:

Porter Hale Good doesn’t know how a lot of things work. His hero, Big Donnie, accused retards, dwarfs, fully paralyzed, mentally ill, deaf and dumb Air Traffic Controllers for all these planes suddenly dropping out the skies.

In fact, in 2024 BCE (Before Crazy Era), the FAA hit their goal for recruiting Controllers. But that may be not enough. So yes, Congress holds the purse strings and would have to authorize more.

          American Democratic Republican:
          Born: 1776
          Died: 2025

RIP, it was a wild ride!

Ironic, isn’t it? Patriots claim the 2nd Amemdment was intended to protect the nation from a tyrant. LOL.

Uh, the question is this. How many were hired because they were the best, or where they DEI hires?

            Inquiring minds want to know.

What a time this is becoming! Less than a month of Trump and the results are open warfare. And not with just offside and snide little remarks, but what is becoming savage hand-to-hand assaults. As many have said, this year is going to be epic. It does seem that many have indeed picked this hill to die on. And so they will.
