And now, because Trump has shut the spigot off, at least for the time being and dependent on what ends up in the next Congressional continuing resolution (pass a damned budget!)

The European Union is considering a large-scale plan to increase defence spending and provide military aid to Ukraine, with funding expected to reach approximately €700 billion.

Details: The newspaper states that amid US President Donald Trump’s plans to end the war in Ukraine, the EU is discussing a large defence funding package.
There has been no official public announcement regarding the funding amount. However, Berliner Zeitung cites German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who hinted in an interview with Bloomberg at the Munich Security Conference that the package could be around €700 billion.
Quote: “We will launch a large package that has never been seen in this dimension before. Similar to the euro or the corona crisis, there is now a financial package for security in Europe. That will come in the near future,” Baerbock said in an interview conducted before the emergency Ukraine summit in Paris on 17 February.
I kinda hate using Pravda as a source, but, it was the first article that came up on the search, and the search only had a few links to come up. Anyhow, is it true? Democrats sure seem to want it to be true. Because they want to keep spending for no outcome. Why? Because Trump Derangement Syndrome. Also, the Elites continue to make quite a bit of money investing in supporting Ukraine with military weapons and such.
But, really, if they can do this now, why didn’t they do it before? If they are saying that it could help Ukraine defeat Russia then why not before when the war was started and the armies weren’t entrenched 3 years on?
Because Europe is cheap. I seriously doubt they will throw away all that money. Remember, Ukraine is still a money laundering country.
OK, they’re going to raise €700 billion for their own defense spending as well as Ukraine, but the obvious question remains: what can Europe actually do to help Ukraine win? They could spend a trillion euros, but without NATO troops in Ukraine, directly fighting the Russians, Ukraine can’t win. They can replenish Ukraine’s ammunitions, but with fewer and fewer troops to use those munitions, what good will it do?
There needs to be a reasonable, workable plan to enable Ukraine to make advances against the Russians, to break the stalemate that exists, or it’s just throwing good money after bad.
It is true that they said this. Likely zero chance that they will follow through. Like Climate goals and five year plans, it’s just the lies that politicians tell each other to feel good about themselves.
I guess the E.U. has seen what crooked politicians got away with here doing their laundry in Ukraine and figured “if they (us) can do it so can we”. I’m sure they’ll get a better return on their money than we did as they don’t have to give the “big guy” 10% off the top.
