Hochul seeks to recruit laid off federal workers with ad in Washington’s Union Station
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul’s (D) office is running a digital ad in Washington, D.C.’s Union Station to recruit laid-off federal employees to work for New York State amid the Trump administration’s efforts to slim down the federal government.
The ad, which started running Monday at digital director displays in Union Station, features an image of the Statue of Liberty with the caption: “DOGE said you’re fired? We say you’re hired! New York wants you!”
“Elon Musk and his clueless cadre of career killers know nothing about how government works, who it serves, and the tireless federal employees who keep it running,” Hochul said in a statement. “Here in New York we don’t vilify public servants, we value them and their efforts. So when DOGE says ‘You’re fired,’ New York is ready to say ‘You’re hired’ – and we’re making sure talented, experienced federal workers know about the many opportunities available in our state workforce.”
The ad is the latest effort from Hochul to reach out to federal employees impacted by job cuts spurred by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Hochul appealed to government employees in a recruiting video last week.
“Whatever your skills, we value public service,” Hochul said in the video. “Come join our New York State family.”
What if they’re deadbeats? Incompetent? Overly-entitled? Slackers? Will Hochul and her people put in the time to interview and determine if these fired federal employees will actually be beneficial to NY state? Will they be workers who work hard or ones who login to their computers from home in the morning and then spending most of the day doing nothing? Or, will the be over-zealous and send people to go kill a pet squirrel and raccoon (long live Peanut!)?
Last week, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R), whose state boasts a large federal and military workforce, backed DOGE’s efforts but touted his “Virginia has jobs initiative” as a potential safety net for laid-off workers.
I bet Youngkin will do a deep dive on every applicant.
Many of these fired workers were not fired for bad performance. They were fired because they were not needed and served no purpose for the US government or American Tax payers.
I have no issue with the states picking up these people and giving them a job.
We tend to think just because Musk let them go means they were worthless dregs. Many are not. Many probably were. Let the states work that out. Let Cuban work that out.
The USA has fallen so far behind the world in Education and work habits that I will be shocked if the USA survives for another 20 years. In 50 years certainly the USA will be a shell of its former self.

When news of the affair broke in January 1998, Clinton denied the allegations for several months until eventually admitting that he had an inappropriate relationship with Lewinsky in August of 1998. The affair ultimately led to Clinton’s impeachment in the House of Representatives on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice, making him only the second president to be impeached. Clinton was then acquitted after an impeachment trial in the Senate and remained in office.

The only reason they could balance the budget was that Bush SR. slashed hundreds of thousands of European troops and closed dozens of military bases at home and abroad after the USSR collapsed in 1989.
The Clinton administration ended up making sizable cuts to the federal workforce with REGO, reducing headcount by 20 percent — some 351,000 positions — though Winogard recalled that *****only 10 percent of those layoffs were involuntary.****** Basically he froze hiring and bought them out like Trump/Musk are trying to do.
In addition, the workforce under Clinton was 1.6 million. Under Trump, it’s nearly 2.5 million.
Trump has fired 10k people and 75k have taken him up on his offer to quit with pay and benefits for 8 months.
Clinton oversaw a balanced budget, streamlined government, oversaw a burgeoning economy – without destroying America! You need to re-evaluate your history. Yugoslavia broke up through 1989-1993, following the collapse of the Soviet Union. In 1995 in Srebrenica, Bosnian Serbs executed 8,331 Bosniak Muslim males of all ages, and raped the women. In 2005, new American ally Russia, vetoed a resolution simply condemning the massacre. Commanders Krstic and Blagojevi? were convicted of genocide. In 1999 NATO bombed Yugoslavian military installations for 11 weeks to successfully stop Slobodan Miloševi? forces from attacking Kosovo and executing Albanians there. Slobo died during his trial for genocide. Some 55 American troops were involved. One American soldier died in Kosovo, but in 2018 under Trump’s command.
18 US troops were killed in Somalia when 2 Black Hawks were shot down. 45 (forty-five) Americans were killed in Afghanistan combat during Trump’s first term.

I actually think Clinton was a decent president. Though I never voted for him, I thought he did a decent job working with a Republican House and Senate in a MODERATE way. That still means the only one trying to rewrite history is you when you claimed:

I never said he did NOT oversee a strong economy, but then you claimed he balanced the budget when he had almost nothing to do with it and then pointed out how it was possible, given that GWB SR. slashed the Federal military budget nearly in half. Show me where this is a rewriting of history.
