Vermont Is Looking To Repeal Key Climate (scam) Measure

Now, why would they do it? It couldn’t possibly be due to it being very costly, could it?

Costly Vermont Clean Heat Standard set for repeal

A key piece of the Legislature’s global warming strategy could be shelved. A bill moving through the Vermont Statehouse would repeal the Clean Heat Standard.

It all comes down to money. Democrats in the Legislature have moved to position Vermont as a leader in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. But Republicans say Vermonters can’t afford it, and with green energy subsidies expected to get the ax in Congress, Vermont lawmakers are looking at a different approach.

“I just don’t think Vermonters can afford it,” said Sen. Scott Beck, R-Caledonia County.

Pushback in the People’s House over the Clean Heat Standard. The Clean Heat Standard was intended to push Vermonters to adopt clean energy for heating their homes and businesses by placing higher costs on climate-polluting fossil fuels. Estimates show it would cost taxpayers over $950 million over the next decade.

But following the results of the November election and a renewed focus on affordability, lawmakers on the Senate Natural Resources and Energy Committee believe now may not be the time.

“It’s in the planet’s best interest to reduce carbon usage and carbon emissions, but I think the reality is that we can only go as fast as the technology and the affordability of that technology allows for,” Beck said.

“I think we need to be able to move forward with our climate priorities in a way that is actually affordable for Vermonters,” said Sen. Anne Watson, D-Washington County.

Yup, money. It’s easy for the rich Warmists to comply (but, do they really?), but, the average Vermonter will find it difficult, especially when it’s their own money, not Someone Else’s. Heck, when you have Democrats saying this you know it is bad. And it’s not like Vermont is a warm in the winter state. I love watching the webcams from Vermont to see the snow. This is a great one. 55,000 Vermonters use natural gas, out of about 648K. But, that doesn’t account for those with outdoor liquefied natural gas/propane storage containers.

Translation: as long as they could foist this off on the taxpayers in Missouri and Kentucky, it was affordable for the maple syrup drinkers, but once they had to pay for everything themselves, woah, Nellie!

None of the shows were filmed in Vermont, but I have a series noting how wealthy New Englanders fight global warming climate change . . . by having natural gas heating systems installed in their homes in the series “This Old House.” Gas furnaces, gas ranges, gas water heaters, and in one show, a buried 1,000 gallon propane tank to help with their outdoor gas fireplace and backup gas generator, as well as the gas utilities in the house.

Why should Vermonters sacrifice when the United States will not?

Youse guys just don’t get it, LOL.

No, I want to see you raise taxes 950 million which will be at least a billion 5 by the time you’re done with it. Vermont already has the highest taxes in the country. That’s why so few people live there. And when more move out, Vermont will have to raise taxes anyway. So go ahead, raise them now. I think it’s comical.
