Those were great…except for that poor traumatized kid with the bird on his head. My heart went out to him.

BTW, I just “got” the reason for your blog’s name, what with being in N.C. and all. I’m sorry to find out you’re not really a Teach, though.

Ocracoke is our favorite spot. Can’t afford it anymore, but ah, the memories.

One time the Baron went on his own. He was a landscape painter then and we had no $ so he camped out at the state park. The very first night, his tent was blown to bits so he went into the Three Quarter Time bar (no longer extant) and they gave him a night job for the week he was there. He earned enough for a cheap room and still got to paint every day.

The upshot: he came home with a painting and with more money than he’d started out with.

Our son is fond of them (disappearing) Ocracoke accent. He does a pretty good imitation.

Next to VA, NC is the B’s favorite place to paint…well, back when he did paint, that is. He loves the coastal plain. I like the highlands and the piedmont better.

  2. Been to Ocracoke a few times, lovely, relaxing place.

Not a Teach, but, actual middle name is William :)
