‘Bought damn time you wised up, Dickie:

Sen. Dick Durbin (search) went to the Senate floor late Tuesday to offer his apologies to anyone who may have been offended by his comparison of treatment of detainees at the U.S. military base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to Nazis, Soviet gulags and Cambodia’s Pol Pot.

"More than most people, a senator lives by his words … occasionally words fail us, occasionally we will fail words," Durbin, D-Ill., said. "I am sorry if anything I said caused any offense or pain to those who have such bitter memories of the Holocaust, the greatest moral tragedy of our time. Nothing, nothing should ever be said to demean or diminish that moral tragedy.

"I am also sorry if anything I said cast a negative light on our fine men and women in the military … I never ever intended any disrespect for them. Some may believe that my remarks crossed the line to them I extend my heartfelt apology," Durbin said, choking on his words.

Dude was whimpering and crying, a bit of snot running from his honker. Teach and I have talked over a 12 pack, and it is time to forgive, but not forget. Give Durbin the benefit of the doubt and reckon that the apolergy was sincere.

But what about Kos? So far, The Daily Kosbat has been silent. Armando has been leading the charge, for the most part, but so far, those two peckerheads have been silent. Will they write about ‘ol Dickie’s apolergy? Will they mention his crying? Will they mention that Al Jazeera, which was all over this story originally, and had been the most emailed story from their little sand terrorist site, is now gone? Search Durbin. No hits. Sure nuttin’ about Dickie’s apolergy. But the article is still cached regarding his original assertion.

And, BTW, McCain should keep his GD mouth shut. He didn’t say much negative regarding Durbin’s original slur.

Back to Kos. Will they write anything about this? I doubt it. There have been abuses at G’itmo. And those soldiers have been taken to military justice, and some contractors have been reasigned or canned. That’s how it works here in America.

Update: looks like Kosbat has finally decided to address the issue. ‘Course, looks like Durbin is now an asshole for apologizing.

Torture isn’t a partisan issue. And by apologizing, Durbin caved to those who worked their best to turn it into one. And the right-wing partisans rejoice — content in their ability to trivialize what is one of the most serious issues facing us morally, as a nation, and practically, on the battleground.

No, Kosbat, it is you who are trivializing the issue, by stating that actions that are not torture are.  You, who blew off Saddam feeding people into wood chippers feet first as being caused by Reagan and Rumsfeldt, without addressing the central issue. The actions at G’timo and Abu Ghraid were slightly worse then hazing at colleges. They are not torture. Torture would have been actually turning the juice on and frying that guy’s nuts.

You, who agreed with Durbin originally that our troops are nazi’s, Mr. "I support the troops but not Bush." Now that Durbin has gone adult, rather then moonbat, you go nots. Piss off.
