Fremont, Nebraska, Passes Law Against Illegal Aliens

Surely, the next stop on Obama SueTrain: Fremont OKs immigrant ordinance (except, it isn’t immigrants, it is illegal aliens, MSM fools)

City officials warned of higher taxes. Residents were told they’d likely see cuts in city services to pay for anticipated legal challenges.

Yet voters here Monday passed a controversial law aimed at ridding their town of illegal immigrants.

“You’ve got to take a step,” said Jerry Hart, a leader of a petition drive to put the ordinance on the ballot. “You’ve got to do something.”

Residents in this town of 25,000 just west of Omaha voted 57-43 percent in favor of the ordinance that city officials warned could bring a legal battle costing up to $1 million annually. The results were a reflection, supporters said, of growing frustration with illegal immigration and the federal government’s lax enforcement.

Controversial. Yeah. Because we all know that it is controversial to be against law breakers. Like illegal aliens.

Of course, the ACLU has promised to sue.

“Our intention is to make sure the law does not go into effect for even one day,” said Amy Miller of the Nebraska chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union. “It’s un-American. It’s unconstitutional.”

Upholding the law and reducing the amount of criminals is un-American? Who knew? How about protecting the Constitutionally given Rights of actual citizens, ACLU?

Again, this is the best way to go: hitting employers hard, and those who knowingly house illegals.

Oh, BTW, it looks like Virginia is doing pretty much what Arizona will start doing at the end of July, which is also “available in 336 jurisdictions in 22 states and will be available nationally by 2013.”

    John’s non-stop talking point is getting a bit old, eh? Actually, we mostly do not sell to illegals, because, shocker, John!!! we actually have to see valid ID and do a credit check. I doubt John would be able to provide the first and pass the latter.

    I love the new term and many thanks to mojo for coining it- “criminal aliens”. I think that’s gonna stick!
    Since some folks just don’t seem to understand when we say “illegal” aliens, we mean that they have committed a crime to come here, and continue to be committing a crime every second of every day they remain here illegally, perhaps this word will be much clearer to them!

    All immigrants who come here legally, WELCOME to our country!
