Generally, most of the major tools on the Internet are ignored, yet, everyone once in a while they write something so incredibly so mindless, so half no-witted, so perfidious, that it needs to be exposed. Here’s Kathleen Parker’s bit of complete idiocy: My name is Glenn Beck, and I need help
Despite all the words spilled in evaluating Glenn Beck’s tent-less revival last weekend, the real meaning may have been hiding in plain sight.
Beck’s “Restoring Honor” gathering on the Mall was right out of the Alcoholics Anonymous playbook. It was a 12-step program distilled to a few key words, all lifted from a prayer delivered from the Lincoln Memorial: healing, recovery and restoration.
Saturday’s Beckapalooza was yet another step in Beck’s own personal journey of recovery. He may as well have greeted the crowd of his fellow disaffected with:
“Hi. My name is Glenn, and I’m messed up.”
Isn’t that nice? Apparently, you 500,000+ who attended, not too mention all those who watched it on C-SPAN and on Internet feeds, are simply the same as alcoholics. Fortunately, Parker, who is certainly competing to be the #1 tool at the Washington Post, mentions
Beck’s history of alcoholism and addiction is familiar to any who follow him. He has made no secret of his past and is quick to make fun of himself. As he once said: “You can get rich making fun of me. I know. I’ve made a lot of money making fun of me.”
Well, then, Kathy, I guess it is just fine for you to make fun of his alcoholism, and make the rally out to be attended by alcoholics. She followed up with quotes from Beck that apparently support her hypothesis that the rally was about getting over addiction, or something.
If you were thinking that Parker’s entire fever swamp column was never meant to go anywhere except to attack Beck, you’d be correct. Oh, and don’t forget about Kathy’s PDS!
Yes, Mother Superior made an appearance. Sarah Palin, whom Beck sainted a few months ago during an interview in which he declared her one of the few people who can save America, came to the Mall not to praise politics but to honor our troops.
Parker may have at one time been a decent person, but, now she is competing for the praises of Liberal World, having been successfully captured by the predominantly liberal media. I’m sure most of us know someone who has had problems with alcohol, perhaps even an alcoholic. I’ve known a few, once who damned near drank himself to death, literally. He turned his life around. And, yeah, we can joke about it a bit, though, the joking can have the hard edge of reality, as well as a bit of melancholy. Forgive me if I am a bit sensitive, but, addiction is not meant to be the punchline of an “I hate Beck and Palin” opinion piece. But, this is what Parker is reduced to.

Hagee has called the Catholic Church the a cult and the whore of Satan. And said things as bad about the Jews. Both of these religions have often been targets of the radical right in the past.
