Oh, noes, we’re all going to starve!
One of the major events of Global Warming will be a food shortage.
Researchers from the University of Leeds, the Met Office and the University of Exeter said the wheat crisis in Russia and reduced crop production in Pakistan, India, and Indonesia due to the current floods brought on by climate changes will push food prices up.
Besides producing physical damage to the crops, rising temperatures also have been creating an early maturity of crops, which could reduce their yield. Intense monsoon rains and severe droughts could be very frequent and also prove very harmful for the crops, as suggested by the researchers in a Journal for Environmental Research.
Interesting. Except that many other studies, and, that pesky past history, show that the growing seasons are longer, there is more land available for food production, CO2 is good for plant life, and, heck, the Brits were kicking the butts of the French when it came to growing wine grapes. Warming is much better than cold snaps, which decrease available land, decrease the growing seasons, and decrease the types of foods which can be grown in the short seasons, among others. Notice, though, that AGW is causing both massive rain and severe drought, two widely divergent weather conditions. Yup, it’s a cult.
Bear attacks have shot up in Japan this year and sightings of the animals have spiked, a trend blamed on climatic changes and shifting land use patterns, officials and media reports said on Wednesday.
At least four people were killed and 80 wounded in bear attacks between April and September in the island-nation, much of which is covered in mountain forests, topping last year’s total of 64 attacks, said broadcaster NHK.
See, it can’t just be the encroachment of Mankind’s works, like homes and stuff, in a country that has 837 people per square mile (#36 most densely populated in the world), it has to have globull warming mixed in
“The extremely hot summer and other climatic factors may have led to a shortage of acorns or nuts in woodlands this year,” said Tatsuo Sato, an official of the Fukushima prefectural government.
Or, it could be, as we’ve seen again and again and again around the world, habitat destruction, bringing people closer to where the wildlife lives, and offering such a wonderful bounty of food in garbage cans.
The Vice President said current erratic weather patterns in Liberia make it difficult for farmers to carry out normal agricultural activities. “Last year, we declared a national disaster due to the caterpillar infestation, which affected several counties. Although with less severity this year, the pest has returned. What we have now is a climate-induced crisis with far reaching implications for food security.”
Is there anything that AGW can’t do? Sigh. Of course, you can guess what is at the heart of this kind of hysteria: third world countries wanting that wonderful free money from first world countries.
OH DEAR LORD. I wish I saw this article first. hahahhaahhahahaa
Bears and caterpillars are the new canaries for Glow-bull warming!!! hahahahhahahaha
I wonder if there were ever ever ever bug infestations in that area before? I wonder if the humans might have done something to prevent the predators of the caterpillars from feasting, or if they killed off too many caterpillar predators?
If you don’t look at all the known normal variables, then you can’t then claim new theoretical untested variables.
No no no. Climate change! This could never have happened before in the past 4 billion years! :)
You Denialist!!!
We have records going back to the big bang and we can prove that our world is warmer this summer than it was all year long!!!!
DISPROVE THAT you yokel!
I suspect that the bear attacks in Japan are due to something else. There may be a large reptile, developed from the nuclear activity, in the forest that is yet undiscovered and forcing the animals out of their habitat. It will then make its way to the cities were it will reek devistation.
This has clearly been demonstrated in Japanese cinema and makes as much sense as the official explanation.
Course, this could be Shardik
