If you read the New York Sun or the New York Post, you might be under the impression that WLIB, Air America Radio’s New York City affiliate, is going under.
Last night, I attended a fundraiser for Al Franken’s new political action committee, the Midwest Values Pac (MVP). The goal of MVP is to raise money for progressive candidates in Franken’s home state of Minnesota as well as progressive candidates in other states, including Vermont’s Bernie Sanders (for more on MVP, check out this BuzzFlash interview).
Anyway, towards the end of the night, I asked Al about the rumors regarding Air America. “Look,” he told me, “Bill O’Reilly alone has said that Air America was on the verge of collapse thirty-six times. We’re not going anywhere.”
I guess I missed the part where Sam Graham-Felsen (I thought only women would use the hyphenated version of a last name. Must be something “progressive”), the writer, makes it clear that WLIB is A-OK. It was Brian Mahoney at the Radio Equalizer who came up with the 411 on WLIB. And, Air Deadbeat has been on the verge of collapse. Without the constant infusion of massive donations (including “loans” from the Gloria Wise Boys and Girls Club) from rich liberals, they would have crashed. AD overpays it’s on air “talent,” has a piss poor listener base, and has low advertising revenue. They have to PAY to get on stations nationwide. Do Rush, Hannity, Boortz, etc, have to pay, or do stations want to carry them since they are money makers?
Liberals do not want to listen. Even the seriously moonbat ones are obviously not tuning in, as the ratings show. It’s a constant seethathon. Most of them would rather seethe at the conservative hosts, then the not funny, not interesting, Air Deadbeat personalities.
Perhaps Sam should have considered asking someone other then Franken, who doesn’t even work at the NYC station. Or *gasp* done some research. Silly libaloon.
