Obama To Send Jobs Bill Over To Congress Monday Night (Updated with some plan links)

Remember, he wanted this thing passed “right away,” as he said multiple times during his joint address. Four days later, we might actually see the text of his proposal

President Barack Obama plans to send the text of his jobs bill to Congress on Monday night, a White House official said Sunday.

At a Rose Garden ceremony Monday, the president plans to announce that he will send the American Jobs Act to Congress at the end of the day, after both houses come back into session.

In the Rose Garden, he will be joined by people who would benefit from the legislation, the official said, including teachers, police officers, firefighters, construction workers, small business owners and veterans.

Seriously? He has to have a big to-do prior to sending it over? Didn’t he have a big to-do on Thursday night? Why not just send that sucker over to Congress Monday morning, so they can get to work on it?

On Friday afternoon, House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), Cantor and other House Republican leaders wrote to the president asking for “legislative text for any of your ideas in a manner that can be scored by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.”

“The House and our committees will immediately begin the process of reviewing and considering your proposals,” they said. “We will examine the impact of your proposals on both short and long term economic growth and we will identify modifications and additional ideas that could achieve economic and job growth in a manner that may be more impactful or effective.”

The big take away is “long term economic growth.” Doing some of the same things that were done with the Stimulus provides short term gains, gains that go away as soon as the pothole is filled and the turtle tunnel is finished. What will these ideas do for the long term?

And will be interesting to see what the bill focuses on. I think it is a safe assumption that there will be something in there that raises taxes on those making $200k for individuals and $250k for couples, you know, those same small business owners that will be standing in the Rose Garden, soon to appear as a campaign commercial. And as far as cutting wasteful and burdensome regulations that harms the jobs market, it should be a safe assumption that there won’t be any specifics in the legislation, but, something about outsourcing that to Congress or a blue ribbon fact finding panel to be convened next January.

As they say, the proof is in the pudding, and we’ll need to see the plan, and see how the CBO scores it.

Update: the White House has the info on line, including the full plan (yeah, right), the highlights, and a summary version. And a charts and graphs page! I wish I had time to really take a deep look, alas, work. But, yeah, the details are pretty much the same, tired ideas that haven’t worked already, many of which seem to be about bribing people with payroll tax holidays and refinancing mortgages for those who shouldn’t have purchased the house in the first place, as we head into the 2012 election.

Please start a movement to marginalize, disrespect, embarrass, attempt to shame president obama. We should laugh out loud when ever he opens his mouth, constantly mock him. If everyone is laughing at him, he will not be able to dump more of his agenda on us.

  2. captainfish says:

Yeah, Teach. You should start some sort of system to post up messages, thoughts and ideas that you have. Then we can all share our thoughts and ideas with you.

    AMAZING IDEA.

You know what. I am inspired. Seeing what is now possible, I actually think the president really wants to help the common worker and increase America’s position in the world’s economy. I can almost now see how forcing someone to pay taxes will give them more money back. By giving someone unemployment insurance increases jobs.

    ksmith, I’m a believer.

    oh. sorry, I got sidetracked.

Yeah, please explain how a fourth stimulus package will do what the first three did not? How does increasing taxes again and again and again, quadrupling the deficit, and forcing our country towards bankruptcy increase jobs in an intentionally severely depressed economy

  4. gitarcarver says:

From what I have read (and I could very well be mistaken) the “bill” he is proposing and presented today didn’t have any information on how he was planning on paying for the spending.

All it had was the spending!!

    ARRRRRRRRRRGH!!!!

    What a maroon!

  5. captainfish says:

Silly carver….. planning if for kids. Don’t you know that the spending itself is what creates job.

  6. gitarcarver says:

    Yeah…. I know.

The amazing thing is how, as Teach points out in another post, Obama said he would release how this thing would be paid for and he didn’t. No one except people like us hold him accountable for that type of deception.

  7. captainfish says:

I agree. And that is one of my pet-peeves. Repubs refusing to point out the lies and deceit from the left. It’s past time to take off the chained gloves and start slapping people around.
